I do not throw them in rage or anything just play some casual games, today my 4th controller has broken, I don't keep receipts for them and tbh probs a long and tiresome return/fix program and they will want proof of purchase

1st Controller - Won't turn on
2nd Controller - analog stick not working (won't run atall pretty much) (tried the blow and push in method does not work)
3rd Controller - another analog stick problem and now not turning on
4th controller won't turn on again

Tried various chargers and sources, something is dead in them, really annoyed and frustrated are xbox controllers any better or the newer version controllers? I remember on my ps3 i had the original controller for yonks and they stillw work

0 - had it since day 1. Although we have 2 controllers so that's half the load

I've still got the first one I got with my b chassis, it's been over 2 years and it's still going strong. I have never used another controller. On another note, I still have my Sega mega drive in the same condition it was in 1993.
#3
Xbox one controller lasted about 2 years.
#4
I've personally never had a broken controller for any console in 25 years.
#5
Day one and its fine for me. I hear stories about the sony gold headset breaking easily too, but my headset is fine even after owning them for more than 2 years.
#6
I'm on my 4th & 5th the thumb sticks are terrible as are the triggers. The v2 pad which is what I have now on both consoles is better but just slightly

that's not good to hear, its getting on my nerves now thats £120 now extra I spent on controllers, since the release maybe i need to bubblewrap them

0. We have 2 controllers.

One of them the left analogue stick feels like the rubber is slowly coming loose.
#9
0. Lasted a year and a half so far, including being thrown by my girlfriend quite a few times while playing Bloodborne.
#10
Had mine over a year now, Used I think everyday since I got it though varying in use form a couple of hours to 8 or every 16 some days, depending on schedule, controller works fine though, I'm tempted to get a new one but I dont know what the purpose of V2 models are

I let my mate use a new controller for 2 player on pes, I regularly beat him by 10 goals plus, I never over stressed myself, he did, within a few months the whole of the left stick had peeled away due to him scratching it out in frustration. I use thumb pads on the sticks just to be sure they'll last the duration, seems to be working at the moment. Games like call of duty and battlefield destroy controllers, things like vibration on, don't help.
#12
4 controllers in since launch. Always an analogue stick.
#13
Running in call of duty has killed my controllers
#14
New analogue sticks are easily available but the problem I had was my standard soldering iron was not hot enough to de-solder the original parts off.
#15
Same one I had when I bought it on day dot!
#16
Same one I had when I opened it. I've also 2 xbox controllers that must be pushing 8 years old minimum. Could be manufacturing processes or just that some of us treat our controllers with the deleicate touch of a ballerina
#17
maybe you should review your policy of not keeping receipts when you buy the next one.....
#18
About 15 ps4 controllers
#19
Just the one, and started showing signs after a year. It still works, just the left analog stick is not as responsive as it should be, and is most noticable in Call of Duty when sprinting (sprinting stops after a second when it shouldn't). Still perfect for any game that doesn't require you to hold left analog stick down.
#20
Have got through about 9 or 10, probably all due to playing Call of Duty. All with the same issue of left analogue stick not working properly, or the rubber grip splitting, which is the stick you use for running in CoD.

However, all but the last 2 were replaced/repaired free of charge by Sony, with about a 8-10 day turnaround. The last 2, for some reason, I don't know if Sony have changed the label, but the barcode has worn off in parts and therefore the serial number is unreadable. However, none of the previous controllers had this issue, so could this be a way of Sony not having to repair/replace them if you are unable to supply the serial number.

Try Sony repairs put the serial number in and see what it says. I've never needed to provide proof of purchase.

I once broke my joystick for my sinclair spectrum playing daley Thompsons decathlon
#22
Right trigger no longer works on one of my two original controllers after a couple of years. I've had no problems with my ps3 controllers, which are still going strong after many years!
#23
My Original one had a problem with the shoulder buttons after about 15 months. Put in a warranty claim with Sony and they sent me a new one which is still going strong. Rubbers are a bit tatty now though.

Got a new one with my PS4 Pro.

Got the sony 2.0 headset. Love it but always worrying it will break wi plastic hinges so i keep it in the box all the time. Ceacking sound just wish it was wire hinge lol

My friend is using his second PS4 controller. His first broke after about 10 months, this one has lasted over a year. When he returned the original the guy in the shop said earlier models had poorly designed analogue sticks. I believe they fixed this pretty quickly through. 4 broken controller to me is pure pleasure. Take those suckers apart and see if you can fix any of them :D
#26
Never broken or worn out any of mine, but my brother on the other hand has. Had to buy him a rubber grip for the control and thumbsticks, solved the problem.
#27
0 for me. Had my PS4 2.5 years but do split the load over 2 controllers
#28
0 for me. still got my first controller, although i have put thumb grips on since day one.
#29
I'm on my third - first one was weak and it snapped in half when I applied a 'small' amount of force when I 'did a hulk impression', and then smashed into oblivion when it was 'gently placed' on the ground.

Second one didn't pass the bendy test when the hulk visited again...

The third one - well, my temper has been tamed so far :)

*Edit: grammar correction - or should it be gamma correction?

If I could like that post, I would! I used to do my joysticks in playing Bomb Jack X)

I've only had my PS4Pro a couple of weeks, but the new V2 controller I have to say feels nice

I went through 2 XBone original controllers (First one LB became non responsive, Second one the Right on the DPad and Y became nonresponsive). For my third controller I bought the blue camo(midnight forces) controller and that's still going.

On the 360 I went through a few controllers due to stick drift!

To think the beating my original gameboy took and it's still going, all my snes and megadrive controllers still work and we used to get savage on Street Fighter, Killer Instinct Gold and of course Mortal Kombat and Sonic used to be a stress on the D-PAD and buttons. Will confess to snapping a few sticks on N64 pads on Goldeneye and whipping them left and right in Mario Kart.

In general though they aren't as tough as they used to be but thankfully the PS4 V2 doesn't feel creaky or flexible unlike the xbox controllers have since the 360.
#33
Only on my second one since PS4 launch. The first one broke against the wall. oO
#34
Also had my controllers since launch few years ago without issue and they've been dropped a lot of times!
#35
With your bad luck, it would be wise to hold on to the receipt going forward
#36
My pad from the release launch has lost its cover on the left stick. The right trigger is not as effective after the first year of playing destiny. It works but on games that need an accelerator it is crap. That's the only feedback I have on the subject.
#37
five controllers since launch. the one I give to the little kids has started having a slightly sticky left analogue stick.
#38
2 controllers still going strong from day 1 of release. only area is the rubber on analogues but easily resolved with silicone stick caps. best investment of a pound ever.

any thought/feedback on PS4 Pro appreciated. is it worth the extra at the moment?
