Yeh i been with them since blueyonder, i usually do the same, threaten to leave, but this time it did not work, they know there the best provider, and you wont leave them, they checked my bandwidth usage and was like 1TB in just a month :) do you actually get deal on the phone, or do you say to them you are leaving and they phone you back ?

Don't have Virgin at the moment as its very expensive as after the initial discount they don't give any discount as they are the only fibre provider for me. Rocking slow cheap ADSL at the moment.
#20
£31 a month for 200mb fibre and basic phone package. it was offered over the phone when i enquired about faster broadband
#21
We were on a deal of £24 for 150Mb went up to £26 as part of the price increases but when the discount was coming to an end would have been paying £34 put in the cancellation request and got the call. Why are you leaving to expensive stupidly I said if it wasn't going up would have stayed guy then offered same speed for £20.25 couldn't believe it.
#22
i also used to have 70mb service for £18 or so with a loyalty discount. now its just gone up to £28 though- wish i had the nerve to leave and seek out BT type offers, but im not sure the phone line in our house is live ?!!

Paying £32ish per month, for 20mbs.

Yeah, I know.
I'll be ringing the cancellations number this week.
Been with them for about 15 years (was 150kbps when I signed up, with ntlworld) and have never phoned to cancel before, which is ridiculous on my part - I do it with my mobile contracts all the time.
I did speak to them on Saturday, and was offered a free upgrade to 70mbs, but that wasn't retentions/cancellations (it was 6pm and that department was knocking off for the day) so I told them I'm not interested and I'll call back within the week to cancel.

Well that didn't go as expected.
My broadband gets cut off in a month's time...

Do they call back to convince you to stay? The best he offered was 50mb for twenty-something quid. I discarded that offer straight away knowing he'd come up with something better, but he just moved straight on to processing the cancellation. I'll be cut off on the 1st, and they'll send me a cheque to refund a partial month on the 2nd of October.

They were not really giving you anything for free, as 70MB is there lowest package they do now, everyone on 50mb was upgraded to 70 for free a while ago, so your be cut off on 1st october correct ?

£33 for 150..

Yeah I was offered a free 70mb upgrade a while back, but as I knew cancellations/retentions would do better I didn't bother, hence still currently being on 20mb. Couldn't believe it when he only offered me 50mb today.
Yeah, I'll be cut off on the 1st of October.
My options are limited as I haven't had a landline in over a decade and I was certain I'd get a decent upgrade and a price cut today.

Not the end of the world if they don't get back to me in the next few weeks - I can either shop around, or just sign up with Virgin again in my own name - it's currently in my girlfriend's.
Rather frustrating, though.

Yeh win win then, they should get back, let me know please, also on virgin website, there slowest speed is 50/70, you sure your just on 20 ?
#32
Aye, definitely on 20. I know it's slower than the slowest they offer - I just haven't taken the last free upgrade or two (wife forgot her password, and cost a fortune to ring them on mobile until recent changes).
#33
Ah i see.

They don't. I just been disconnected a few days ago. Don't hold your breath.
#36
I've just done a deal with Sky (already had Sky TV). Getting Sky broadband installed on 20th. Getting VM disconnected on 4th October, and saving over £8 per month on the combined services.

After nigh on 20 years of being a customer with VM they never even tried to keep me! oO Unbelievable they would let a loyal customer just go!
#37
Out of interest, any of you guys with VM BB + Phone what are you paying? Either evening & weekends or anytime

Thx
