Thanks for the suggestion, been searching my ass of one gumtree but theres barely any Olympic plates on there. 5 years ago these places were flooded with gym equipment, now its rationed.

Yep, powerhouse have some great quality stuff even for the money its decent, but I think that the plates are just soo over priced, looking at £1.50 - £2 per kilo

Thats some pretty neet stuff, would defo take it at a £100 lower than what its selling as the budget would need some space for more weights aswell.

The bench looks really strong and from strength shop which is a reputable comapny.

The rack was the same one I was looking at, but I got super frustrated when I measured my ceiling and it came in at 6ft 5, this rack needs 7ft clearence. That may be a breaking point for me finding a power rack which is under 6ft 5.

Cant comment on the weights as its mainly a spoilt preference for me loving the feel and build of iron cast plates

The bench is siiiick. My old one was falling apart and with my bodyweight + lifting i was past the rated amount, so I needed to upgrade, I'd recommend it heavily if you take lifting reasonably seriously :]

I eventually managed to kit mine out from gumtree but took a while, got to wait for all the new year fitness people to realise how much dust their new equipment is gathering before gumtree is full again.

That would be a dream come true to see a load of 20kg cast iron plates come in, a few years back a mate of mine got like 260kg worth of 20kg plates from a old women in manchester saying that her sons used to use it but have no all gone out. She said take it for just £65!! as long as you collect.

Admitted I didn't need anything close to what you list, but I did manage to get some major bargains from there. Kitted it all out including some quality cardio machines for just under 800.

So far I've found this rack which would fit perfectly in my cellar clearance.

Only thing I really dislike is the hole distance between each other, makes it look like anything which would give sudden impact would end up going through the mount. Also to mention the thickness of the steel isnt great for £360, but its the only rack I've seen which will fit and which is a full rack.

Can't help you, but, I was just wondering, why not use an actual gym? Do you prefer working out alone or is it easier than going to a local gym? Just wondering. For your budget it would take me ten years of gym membership to cost that much. Plus I wouldn't have as much equipment to play with. Not questioning your choice, just intrigued really.

whats the point in getting 200kg, not like your going to lift it at once might aswell just get 50kg will do

I would imagine most people want to be super fit but also don't want to be a ghost to there family

I've been working out at local gyms for quite some time, but the busyness is getting to me a bit, also I can get alot more done when its empty and do kinda like working in my own space. Not to mention the lack of weights at my gym and being lower quality than even basic cast iron plates.

Deadlifts, squats will need quite a bit more than 50kg, I guess 12 20 plates may be a tad to much for now, but in some time it will come handy and also keep costs down by buying in bulk early.

I see your point if you train with your family at home? I visit the gym 6-7 days a week. Only for 1-2 hours(including travel time) and it is at a time that fits in around my family life. I don't miss anything. I guess if you live far away from a gym then a home gym would be a better idea.

I've been looking more at this bench for £139.99 what do you think of it

I try to take lifting very seriously, but £250 even for that extremely strong bench is a bit hard to part with for me.

The bench is fine, but it's rated to 250kg, so it depends on your weight and what you bench quite simply. I'd be over the limit, so further progression is wasted.
