Thanks summerjoo but how do I copy the folder from my amazon stick? I have tried using the FTV in windwos but it did not back up for some reason.

not done this myself but will probably need to in the near future.

would have thought you would use adbfire to push/pull the userdata folder ?

Heres the post that lead to the link I gave you if thats any help:

"Install ES File Explorer. Turn on Remote Manager (basically, it creates an FTP server on the FireStick). Go to the FireTV, enter that info. Go to this thread that I wrote and look at /9

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2793823

Note, if you are using kodi, the folder should be org.xbmc.kodi. "

it will be easier to ssh into it (if its possible with a firestick I'm not too sure)
if you have windows find a ssh client then put the IP address of firestick in along with any username and password and it will then connect and show the folders like windows explorer does.
and then copy everything in the userdata folder

The method suggested by kjcoolcat using adbfire may be easier than the other one I posted. I would imagine you'd connect to your firestick and pull the kodi file and then connect to your fire tv and push the file to it. Im still on a learning curve myself. If see if I can find any links that may help.
THIS LINK mentions more about using the adbfire method.

I am still having trouble backing up with adbfire - keeps saying backup failed although the it does create a backup file about 300mb size! But will have a go at it and see how it goes today!(_;)

just had a quick look online, you could try this method if you are struggling - seems to be for Fire TV, so not sure if it will be the same for the Stick (although cant really see why not). Basically you install a client on a desktop, an app on the Firestick then you can drag/drop/copy whatever you want (apparently).

For desktop use:
I installed the android app FTP Server by Rapfox on my AFTV. I believe ES File Explorer also has an FTP server option built in that you can use.
Run it and get the ftp address:port, along with the username:password..leave the app running.

Install WinSCP on your desktop/laptop.
Select FTP protocol.
Host name:port = ftp address:port from Rapfox, or whatever other app you end up using.

In order to see the .xbmc folder on your AFTV using WinSCP, in WinSCP click advanced » FTP » Use MLSD OFF » Support for listing of hidden files "ON".

This way you can delete/add/copy/backup whatever you want with just a few clicks.

Easiest method is to go to program addons, install backup, then smb it to your laptop/pc. Failing that, have it back up to the sdcard folder on the ftv and connect to laptop via wondershare mobile or the es file manager as already posted.

Anyway you could do a step by step to help a noobie out? I have both wondershare and es file already installed on the laptop, but I can't quite figure out how to use them to get the backup on my FireStick. Sorry for my ignorance and appreciate any help.

Have a look here - http://www.tvaddons.ag/clone-configuration-kodi/

There are many Kodi/XBMC backup addon's ie USB/SD Card wizard is another popular one from Xunity repo.

However for the FireTV Stick, I prefer the ES File Explorer method and FTP the userdata folder etc (remember XBMC/Kodi) is a hidden directory, so you have to turn that on within the app.

Wonder share makes it easier, plug your fire stick into the laptop via USB, connect to wondershare, go to files, android, kodi and copy all files to laptop them just use those to transfer to any stick

I am trying to take my "jailbroken" Firestick and copy it's info to a new firestick. So I will have two that have kodi and I can use one downstairs, I thought I could just back it up on perhaps my desktop and than restore on the new stick. Is this going to work or will I just crash the new one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am good with my comp, but can't write code or anything like that. Thanks!

I find that installing kodi and a custom build is quicker than backing up and restoring to a new one. Any reason in particular why you want to copy the existing stick?

If i have a build on stick and same build on parents is there anyway to update build from my house rather that keep visiting just to do a update. Thnks

Most builds will come with a builtin wizard which is very easy to update. What are you running?
