Dude just hold on there, you can save at least £100 maybe even £200 on that spec just browsing these forums.

The Dell machines that MikeT has been listing beat that hands down for the price.

Not looking for you now mate, had too much beer, I need sleep but I will try and find you a good deal tomorrow. Maybe CurryChops could help you out if he reads this post, he seems clued up and has a good nack for finding laptops at great prices.

If not I am sure MikeT could point you to a better priced Dell with the same or similar spec.

Just hold on for a day or two before you buy, I am 100% sure we can save you a heck of a lot of money!!! :)

orangeman...if you require 2gb of memory it's a pity you missed the gateway bargain that was £550...with almost the same spec as the HP you quote...the first question is do you really need the memory cos you can get better deals much cheaper but with 1gb of memory...like the Acer £559 one on the first page of the HOT DEALS.

This HP looks a good price but has an AMD dual core but really good graphics

If you want a HP then I would wait because they are about to launch their vista loaded range so there may be some good introductory prices.

Hi orangeman, i have the HP DV2188ea which i picked up from John Lewis back in Nov. Its a great looking machine and its great to use. I have moved away from the Sony FS series and this thing beats them hands down. It looks like the 'new range' of HP laptops will be the same style but have Vista pre installed. I wouldnt try to change your mind - stick with the HP!

Just my 2p!

Thanks for the rep orangeman...yes I agree about HP styling..I was "playing" with one in PCWORLD a few weeks ago....I was looking for a dv6157ea for a friend and cannot find them anywhere in stock...the vista loaded models are released on the 15 Feb (according to play.com) so maybe PCWORLD will drop the price of the XP loaded ones after, or just before , the release date...worth keeping an eye on the website/instore.
Have you tried googling the model number to find other stockists..may just throw up something...I tried for the dv6157ea and got nowt.

Just visited the HP website and note the new model with vista is DV 2278ea..at £899

If you look in the voucher section you'll see a valid 10% off for purchases from HP...not sure if the 10% + free delivery is still valid...also 4% quidco cashback.

Maybe worth considering.

yes orangeman they are the new vista loaded range..as you said earlier in the thread the design is the same it's just a slight chnage to the model number and some tweaking of specs on those that required upgrading to run vista.
