Help!

Last night I purchased the i7 HP Spectre from John Lewis:
http://www.johnlewis.com/hp-spectre-x360-13-4129na-convertible-laptop-intel-core-i7-8gb-ram-512gb-ssd-13-3-touch-screen-ash-luxe-copper/p2857566

I was under the belief, due to pricing, that this was the same as PC Worlds i7:
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-spectre-x360-qhd-13-3-2-in-1-ash-silver-10147540-pdt.html

But I have now noticed different product codes, and of course I want the newest/best for the such similar prices:
13-4172na (PC World)
13-4129na (John Lewis)

Can anyone work out the release dates or any other differentiation? Have been unable to work it out from the HP website etc. Need help asap as I may be cancelling my order... any help appreciated!

Could just be the difference in color.

The colours are the same and checking the specs on both...

They appear identical. The difference is simply the product code as they have different promotions. Its also worth noting the JL have a habit of getting manufacturers to apply a unique model number to product to avoid them having to price match as they can claim "its not the same model". Its not common but it does happen.

Excellent thank you, the only difference I found in specs was a difference in trackpads:
4172
Pointing device
HP Imagepad with multi-touch gesture support
4129
Pointing device
HP Control Zone Trackpad
What do you think, are these identical or any major difference?

I actually just got a price match from John Lewis, as PC World have today taken £50 off the price, making it £1035 in total plus £100 cashback. £935 sounds a lot nice and further away from £1000 than £979! I'm glad it was granted, I think only because the product codes on the PC World website were well hidden, though they are the same!
The model numbers are even more similar:
X5X71EA#ABU (John Lewis)
X5X72EA#ABU (PC World)

To be honest they key difference here is the store you are buying from or more specifically the warranty and aftersales service for which I would give JL 8/10 and Currys 1/10 and given that JL price matched I would stick with the device you already have.

As for the touchpads, sadly I do not have first hand experience with the Spectre although I would guess one supports multi touch where as the other does not, did JL or Currys have display models where you might be able to try and test/compare if it that much of an issue ?
