We are talking about the HTC Desire mate

HTC Supersonic is a sprint exclusive for summer in the U.S atm - it's unlikely it will even hit europe at all..

Kind of pointless discussing it, as we will never be able to buy it.. Couldn't even order it in on import, as it's a CDMA device. Wouldn't work here.

There is a thread open to discuss HTC Supersonic elsewhere on here

Mine is also due to come tomorrow/monday

I'm moving from iPhone to Android, but the first few apps i think ill go for are:
- Movies (I use it on iPhone and there is a Android version, i would be lost without this, useful for checking cinema times etc)
- CoPilot (Again, use TomTom on iPhone, but definately want a Sat-Nav on my phone!)
- Locale (Definately something i want to check out!)

Can anyone provide some android apps websites?

Recommend Apps for:
Football
F1
Radio - Internet stations such as those either online or via DAB radios,aka Talksport
Browsing - Opera?
Document viewers such as pdf, word. - Answered odf is native - thats very good (I come from using an iPhone, therefire expect the need to have an app for everything rather than it being done natively!)

Also any good mods that you can do, only really found a use for my iphone after jailbreaking with emulators and themes etc.
#9
Oh ye and i'll also be downloading the Engadget app :) - Which got released the other day.
#10
Here's a very good place for you to start. Look at the tab marked 'htc apps starter pack' first. I think Wave Secure is only free until the end of March.

cool, thanks for the info mate, just a quick question, is it possible to get apps for htc phones for free? like a jailbreak for andriod kind of thing?

99% of Android apps are free. :thumbsup:

There’s a Remote Control App for controlling iTunes on your PC (and possibly MAC!). It doesn’t stream audio, it’s just a remote.
http://phandroid.com/2008/10/09/android-itunes-remote-control-sweet/

Also a Spotify app but you need a Premium Spotify Account for that which is £10 a month. If you’ve go an account anyway then it’s a free add-on.

Mine's coming tomorrow.
Having had a look at the cases on the market - it seems as though the hole in the silicone case for the flash is on the wrong side...anyone else noticed this?
What cases/screen protectors has everyone gone for?
or are you all waiting......?
#14
agree with having app recommendations as I have no idea what apps are good on android

Cheers for the link

Spritey - is it worth putting a couple of Andriod app links into the Header post?

such as:
http://www.android.com/market/
http://uk.androlib.com/

I'm sure there are plenty out there but I don't know which ones are good.

- Whos expecting one to arrive tomorrow
Probably wait for a cheap one to come along before buying. If the wait gets too long then I'll sell my Hero and get one at full price.
- What apps you going to download when you first get it
Apps
Alarming!
Barcode Scanner
SMS Backup/Restore
Midomi
PktAuctionseBay
Swype
Astro
yxFlash
Games
Labyrinth
Replica Island
WordWrench
Toonwars
Custom ROM
Probably cook something myself once the phone becomes rootable
After Installing custom ROM
Titanium Backup
WaveSecure (in system folder so it's more secure)
- Any app reccomendations
See above
- Whos just popped on here out of interest as they're thinking about getting one
Been thinking about getting one for a long time!
- And from tomorrow, what are ya general impressions
Its still today!

Anyone who has a bluetooth keyboard and was wanting to use it can use this application:
http://www.mymobilegear.com/AndroidKBDriver.php

Compatible Keyboards

* ThinkOutside Shasta Keyboard
* Freedom Pro Keyboard
* Freedom Universal Keyboard I & II
* Chainpas SmartKeyboard
* Freedom Blackberry Keyboard
* Amzer SmartKeyboard
* Xema BlueKeyboard
* Snap-N-Type Keyboard
* i.Tech Virtual Keyboard

My iGo Stowaway doesn't work but let's hope an app update in the future makes it work :D

love opera mobile and mini just the best mobile web browsers on the market for me (though not really used safari). For me Opera mobile renders pages including advance javascript stuff (web 2.0) really well often as good as firefox or chrome.

Give it a read - looks like it's a complete winner.

Any stupid ones available?

Like spirit level, where did i park etc?

Oh, and it might sound stupid, but how do you unlock it? Not root it and all that, but physically unlock the phone
#27
Awesome, as a new android owner, there is some very useful info here!!
#28
Getting mine tomorrow. Looking forward to playing with it. Not sure what apps to go for yet, probably Facebook, Locale, Google Goggles.

Here's a brief video of a pre-release model if you haven't already seen it. No sound. Look how many fingerprints are on the screen! Hopefully the screensavers are better than a spinning cube ;-)

Will be following this thread with interest!

Should have said, T-mobile have told me before 1pm tomorrow, ordered it today at 3pm.
Is there a full list of apps any where? I have no idea what will be available other than those mentioned on here.

Also will follow this thread with interest. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I hope there is a way to get voice to text working on it that is on the nexus one but I doubt it.
