Ok, so our hudl's charging port broken and this was repaired under warranty about 2 year's ago. then about 3 months ago my girls where playing on it and they ran the battery flat. since then I have been unable able to charge it. I have tried all the tips like hold power and volume up for 20 seconds and then power. leave it on charge for 24 hours, still dead. does anybody have any suggestions. Willing to try anything.

you may have killed the battery some li-ion batteries do not like to be fully discharged.

Do you still get a charging light?
#3
No nothing. Like I said it worked then it shut down went to put it on charge on nothing.
#4
Have you tried using a different charger?
#5
yes. tried all the chargers we have, including the hudl charger, even connected to my PC. still nothing
#6
Have you left on charge for an hour before trying to turn on?

To be fair you've done well to keep it alive for this long. My son has had 3 replacement hudl 2's and now we've finally given up on them. Tesco have stopped selling them as there were so many faults with them. The first one we had we had it for just under a year before it just suddenly refused to charge. Apparently it's well known for problems with the port. We sent it off for repair then 2 weeks later it happened again. They replaced it but we've had the same thing now every time. We also had a problem when it updated it got stuck on the boot up screen. We rang Tesco and they knew about the problem but because it was out of warranty they wouldn't do anything about it. It's a shame because before we had the faults it was a brilliant tablet. We've switched now to an Alba tablet from Argos- relatively cheap & does everything my son wants it to do

It's a known problem my mother's does it... Plug power in then keep hold of the power button for about 15 seconds and it should start charging after...

I had a similar problem like the last guy said, I think I held the power + volume buttons to boot menu mode or something after was fine.

Surely if there is no charging light at all then it has to be a hardware fault? Charging lights aren't controlled by software so if the charging point is working then it would light up, even if the battery wasn't charging.

HUDL2 charge ports are £10 and available from eBay. Easy to fit as well and is almost certainly your problem.

Agree with lkolpdog charging points very easy to change just follow video on YouTube.

Phone / tablets when flat act like they are dead. No charging light, nothing I found. I think the device is trying to protect battery so plays dead until the battery has a percentage of charge. Leaving on charge for an hour with a 1 amp charger normally sorts problem.

Have you tried calling tesco hudl helpline? They have a dedicated team who can help with this kinda thing

thanks everyone. I have tried the power + volume trick and the charging trick to. still no joy. any other ideas?

I have a hudl 2 charging port and battery sitting in front of me, about to change it in my sons hudl. Easy job just a few screws. The hardest part is getting the case apart. Parts are cheap enough on ebay, just make sure the battery is brand new and not a recycled one.

Bought a while back but £9.50 for the battery and around £10 for the board with a claimed upgraded usb port, the board is used with a new port on.
