I'm writing this on behalf of someone else, who is having problems with their Humax.

They something use their Humax to playback movies/tv shows (mkv avi etc) from an external portable drive.
But, recent (I'm guessing after a July SW update according the th settings menu info), the files don't playback as they did before.

When clicking play, the movie doesn't instantly play, replacing the menu screen.
But, you now have to press Back or Exit, to remove the menu screen and see the movie beneath.
Also, it's now impossible to pause/stop/FF/REW the movie as it seem to thinks it's a time shifted recording.

The files on the external drive haven't be touched and playback fine on a laptop.
I'm not sure if doing a hard reset would fix the problem or it's the new software that's messed everything up and would still be present after a reset.

Thank you for any help.

I would get in touch with Humax they offer really good technical support. But by sounds of what has been explained you may need to do hard reset.

Thank you for the reply.
I've just received an email from Humax, they say it's a known issue and are working on it.

I managed to downgrade to FW in the meantime, that fixed the problem.
They also say, it's not possible to block FW updates.
