I got one from Comet for £179.00 2 weeks ago.Dont know if its the best but I am very happy with it.It is very easy to use and has very good picture quality and sound output. Comet or Currys Stores sell this for £199.00 but Comet sell it for £179.00 online with free delivery. Both stores will price match the online price if you ask .I couldnt get them to beat it though.Personally I prefer Comet to Currys as I believe they give a better after sales service.Having used Humax's after sales service for a previous purchase PVR 8000T I can also reccommend them. They were very helpful when I had a upgrading problem with the hard drive on that machine.Hope this helps.

Thanks bigaljo.

I am currently struggling with an Aldi Tevion 1600 but it is constantly breaking up and losing its signal. Never sure it will record when set on timers.
It is really unreliable!

Do you have picture and sound breakdown on the Humax?

Are you sure the picture breakup and signal loss is because of the equipment and not due to poor signal strength to start with??

Signal strength is about halfway.
I have a Samsung TV with Freeview and this doesn't get half the breakup the Aldi tevion 1600 PVR has. Certain times of day are worse than others and ITV channels are the worst. Saturday night is a nightmare for using the recorder, but I can still watch the TV.

Got my 9200 3 weeks ago after having a humax 8000 for a few years. Very happy with picture and functions. Only bad point is that when in stand by it seems to lose the EPG so that when you switch it back on its a while before you can see whtas on the guide. Still would recommend it thoroughly though

Support the independent Humax forum

Thoroughly recommend player although must be replaced soon I suspect. Worth buying the cable (from ebuyer - see forum) to upgrade menu system.

Can you watch what has been recorded from the beginning while it is still finishing the recording? Think its called chase play!

Yes - you may have to update the software to do so...

Having chase play will be brilliant!

Any idea when Humax are likely to bring out a new box Bertt?

Nothing has appeared on any of the forums or interest sites - although there has been speculation for some time. The loss of EPG information from when it is powered down is the only issue that could be significantly improved. This is more of a mild annoyance than a serious issue.

Although on-air updates have not been frequent Humax support for the product is very good and I am sure that this will continue for some time to come - you will not find yourself with an obselete product too quickly.

Can't you leave it switched on to avoid losing the EPG?

Yes - but I think this might keep the hard disk in operation unnecessarily. If you use analogue television while it is switched on you may also find some conflict with the digital signal. The data is lost when the unit is switched off with the remote control. It is fairly quickly reloaded in the background when it is rebooted.

Thanks for that Fil.
Sounds like the lowest price - unless anyone knows better!
