As i have nothing else to do atm my sis hagiven me the task of finding her a TV & DVD so can anyone help me out please!!!

Specs are, she wants a 42" Plasma, full hd (as she is getting Sky+HD on friday) and a dvd player that has a usb to play movies of a pen drive or external HD,

Have been looking at a LG (will post link in first reply) i know its not full HD but it looks amazing 600hz!!!(6x50) and 2000000:1 contrast ratio, states zero motion blur,

Any help would be much appreciated

I'm no expert, but will it be worth her paying the extra for Sky HD if the TV isn't full HD resolution?

Considering Sky HD only outputs at 720p then that TV would be fine

On Sky, ALL HD material is broadcast at 1080i regardless of the original format it was filmed in, and all SD material is broadcast at 576i.

This is important because it indicates that the material is all in interlaced format. To be shown correctly on a digital display this needs to be deinterlaced to progressive format.

If you set the box to Auto, it outputs 1080i for HD and 576P for SD.

So do you think the LG looks like a good deal? seems a lot of telly for not much money, always wondering why things are cheap, does it mean its rubbish?

Looks like a great TV for the money.

But go and see it in store. and not just wired up to a dvd player. Comet have live TV in their shops.

Thing is its a buyers market in electronics at the moment. Go into a store and see what other offers are available. Also bare in mind John Lewis can price match local stores and offer a free 5 year guarentee
