I have been scammed now I need your help!!

I have bought a DS console on Ebay and today I have been by e-mailed by EBAYand basically they said not to bid and ended the auction (the auction ended days ago!!!) and now the seller is no longer registered!

It really pi$$es me off when they send generic template e-mails. They told me not to bid and not to pay when they KNOW very WELL that the auction ENDED and that I paid already! I wouldn't have usually bought something like this from Ebay but my son broke the first and lost the second Ds so didnt "deserve" a new one so got a second hand on Ebay. It was a birthday present for him this Friday and now I am out of money and with no present!

If anyone has a second hand DS for a good price (not pink) that I will receive by Thursday or if they know of a DEAL going PLEASE let me know!

Thanks

have you tried emailing or contacting the seller?! do they have an email address on their paypal or from a ebay invoice

EDIT i smell a sympathy story for a cheap ds :p
#2
Arent you covered on ebay upto a certain value ?
#3
I have tried e-mailing she is not replying and the unfair thing is (and legally questionable) if I completed the sale on Ebay why arent they allowing me to get her contact details so that I can call her????

They have removed all traces of the auction from MyEbay!!

Ironic thing is when I paid for the item the transaction got returned because I dindt have enough money in my account  (end of the month) and instead of e-mailing me she just put a dispute straight away in to Paypal! WHAT A CHEEK!!! :x
Have made a new payment and went through fine, told her I needed it for my sons birthday and she said not to worry!

if the seller already withdrew the money from her Paypal account there is little hope in getting my money back!

don't even go there!!! Is not fair!

well that happened to me a while ago too, the seller was just removed from ebay for some reason known to them but they still sent the goods i won so you never know. Perhaps i was just lucky.:-D
#6
did you pay through payapl? if so you are protected, go into your account and file a dispute...they will refund the cash if the sellers doesn't respond.

hope this helps and good luck

I hope so, you never know! But I cant run the risk of not getting it because I need to wrap it by Thursday!!

I have done so but it can take 30 days so I need to get one as cheap as I can by Thursday!!

Sorry to hear about that. If you are getting desperate there seem to be a lot of highstreet stores with good prices listed up in deals. Also put in a Wanted in the FS/FT or look and see if any are already for sale, you might pick one up there at secondhand prices.
#9
same happened to me with something i paid £40 for and i got 60p back because that was all the seller had left in account !
you must be a understanding parent if my child broke and then lost a ds lite then i would not buy them another lessons need to be learned
#10
Also, if he did break it and doesn't 'deserve' a new one you could save a bit of money by getting him a DS original one rather than lite. The games will still work fine.

I do see your point but accidents do happen. He has waited long enough now. And his brother has a DS lite so dont think is fair to go as far as getting an old ds for one son and a new one for another.

I am just looking for a DL lite for a good price now I am annoyed enough not to have to defend my decision, without sounding rude but thanks for pointing out the option, I do genuinely apprecciate you taking time to respond. if my other son had the older I would have considered it.

I didn't mean to be rude at all, just using the words you used - hence the quotation marks - and trying to help with a few suggestions. My next one is to go back on ebay, but do the search by items local to you and organise local pick up which saves on postage and also means you can organise the collection before his birthday and not get scammed with cash on collection.

If my older brother had a new lite one and I had an old phat one I'd be a bit miffed, especially if my one was a main birthday pressie - totally get your point on that one, don't want to disappoint the poor lad.

I was not saying you were being rude , I meant " I didnt want to sound rude" oh what a lot of palava!!

I was searching on Ebay again with that criteria (great minds think alike :) ) but there are only a couple within 20 miles (others pink, broken...phats...) have e-mailed already a seller and he promptly replied he wants to let the auction run.

On a suggestion from the other thread in the For sale section I have made a list of phone numbers of my local Cash Converter/Game/ Blockbusters and will call them in the morning to see if they have anything that people traded in!

Thanks again! :)

is there any of those cash convertor shops near you ,you would probably be able to get 2nd hand one in there
sometimes the game shops sell refurbished ones its worth a try

Hehe, great minds think alike indeed. Hope you get one ok in the end and on time. Maybe you could put where you live in the OP so anyone close might be able to help. I'm all out of suggestions though now. Apart from that gumtree place, you might find one local on there.
#16
Oh yeah GUMTREE! How could i forget that one!
Called local Blockbusters and they have them for £80 and have 8 of them so at least I know that if I get stuck I can still save £20 and get one from there.
But as a good HUDealer I will keep going to see if I can save some more.

however it goes I will let you all know!

thanks!

Hi thanks for this, what is the condition? Is for my sons birthday so please be as accurate as you can in the description as I would like it as new/excellent cond. (no scratches especially on the screen). Also where are you located?

This is why you shouldn never use Paypal.
#21
Once my account got locked up by ebay as I forgot to pay the auction fee and the buyer who just bought a laptop from me got really worried (poor him) lol. I sent the laptop to him anyway and guess what email I got from him?! "Thanks god" ^ ^

So wish you all the luck !
#22
Thanks all for your help and suggestions everyone. Hubby managed to get one local pick up from Gumtree this evening. I am really pleased with it and the price was excellent the gentleman was very nice too!
#23
As soon as you read my message go on paypal and raise a dispute without delay, once you have done so go into your dispute and escalate to a claim, the buyer will have 10 days to contact you and as soon as you do this the amount you paid will show as a minus on the sellers account pls act asap

This exact same thing happened to me a few months ago when I bought 100 euros on ebay, stupid I know!

Ebay contacted me after I had paid!. The seller was no longer registered.

Open a dispute at once with paypal, it takes a while but if they can't contact the seller they will do a reversal, which is what happened to me :)
