I know its early but....Cheap holidays!

Yes, it is January, but I know myself and a few others have started thinking about their summer holidays!

I thought a thread should be started where people can post cheap holiday sites they've found, or post cheap holiday deals they've found to give people some inspiration.

The earlier you book, the better deal you will get, so come on guys, lets find some great deals!

 :p ;-)

Good idea for a topic.

I've got exams at uni just now but my mind keeps drifting towards summer. Was looking at websites today for holidays (anything to keep from studying :-( ) and trying to figure out places to go.

Well it's just me and my girlfriend and we went to Crete last year and had the best holiday I've ever had. It was incredible. Beach was minutes away, loads of restaurants and plenty to do. Wanting something similar so I've been looking at Tenerife and resorts in spain, not too sure though.

How about yourself?

Funnily enough i went to Crete last year too, malia to be precise, bit of a clubbing holiday, and like you had an amazing time!

Looking to go back this year :p

We stayed in Stalis, just next to Malia. Ventured in there on a few occasions.

I had my clubbing holiday the year before last, went to Ibiza with 15 mates :-D

I went to Stalis with Olympic Holidays however I was very unimpressed with their customer service, rep was very unwilling to help us any time at all.

Looking to either go with Thomas Cook or just do a flight + hotel thing individually.

I went to Crete (malia) with a friend around 12 years ago and my son went last September, we loved it!
I have just come back from Tenerife, we were there for 2 weeks over xmas period, I have been to Tenerife 8 times now.
The heart of Las Americas is the best place as you wont need to get taxi's etc.

Thomson sell holidays on eBay HERE you can pick up some bargains.

Ive been to Stalis for the last 3 years and love it!!
Favourite place on earth and if i could id buy a place out there...Good choice of lively or quiet bars and excellent resturants!!

May go again this year!!

That looks quite intersting, but only a few available and around the Janaury mark. This looks more like a last minute thing to me

travelsupermarket.com is a great site for cheap holidays.

I prefer to book late as I find you can get some really good deals then.I suppose it depends on how much forward planning you like to do.
From using this site,I went to Sri Lanka last oct/nov for £385 2 weeks b&b,one of the best holidays I have had:)

travelsupermarket.com came up with a few cheap results, but they excluded Taxes etc, but still overall quite cheap!

most of the travel companies do this, unfortunately, you have to click further as if booking to get the full price.

It is annoying but they get round this by quoting prices 'from' etc.
I read somewhere that the OFT or someone like that, is looking into this issue of holiday advertising,so we may get more transparent pricing in future.

Despite all that you can still get a great deal.
#13
Yep, guess its something you expect, and have to deal with!

I couldn't fault the place at all. There was so much to do from trips to Heraklion, to the water park, to water sports at the beach (crazy squib :-D ) to horse riding. The places to eat were first class, shops all great and the people very friendly (although quite annoying when trying to force us into their restaurant then conveniently forgetting we'd already been).

Where do you stay when you're there?

We were at a place next to Cactus Beach (looks amazing in there).

The problem is that I'd love to go back, but I don't want to go to the same place 2 years in a row - worried I won't have as good a holiday elsewhere though...
#15
We was worried about going back, but a good thing is that you now what restrants and bars are good etc!
Never really bothered about apartments as long as there is a balcony and bed and fridge!!
Best we stayed was Ekati thru Direct holidays, it was near Rose and Crown, more they classed it as Malia...
Beach was a stones trow away!
#16
Oh and i think Cactus Beach is ridiculously expensive!!

This was next to Ekati and looked the dogs!!

Another nice looking one was the Anthoussa, the pool was something else!!

Looks like a lovely place. I'll definitely go back to stalis either next year or the year after. But it was our first holiday together so it'd be nice to explore and go other places. Neither of us can really think of where to go though, Crete just appeared in our heads one day and from then on that was where we were set on going, nothing like that this year though :-(

Been looking at those but they're a bit too 'last minute' for my liking.

Some incredible deals though!

Almost certain on Tenerife now, just got to find out a bit more about it and some of the hotels on offer :)

As long as they give you some choices on accommodation then you can look them up on the net and as long as you dont mind any of them then go for it..... Cant loose really

Anyone ever used diytravel.co.uk? Was planning on booking a hotel through hotelopia (using 10% discount) but on diytravel it works out a bit more expensive however they don't ask for the amount in full!
#24
A good site for information is www.holidaytruths.co.uk I always check out the reviews for any hotels I'm interested in on this site and www.tripadviser.co.uk

It depends on a few important factors; MONEY, HOW OLD YOU ARE, HOW MANY OF YOU ARE TRAVELLING, maybe DESTINATION.

Decide which factor will guide you on your holiday, then will you buy an all in package or buy a flight and sort your own hotel out. If you are looking at a particular destination see what the average price is and keep to your figure (give or take about £30), are you taking any young children? how long can you keep them amused on a flight and how will they react for the return journey (sleeping thru the night). Do you want a quite holiday or a big rave up.

Everyone is different and everyone will choose a different destination for different reasons, not everyone likes what you like.

Good offers around at the moment are London/Hong Kong - return incl taxes £320, Some flights to Toronto/Montreal ex UK for £50 each way plus taxes, Vancouver/Calgary/Edmonton £75 each way plus taxes (these are in school term times). Los Angeles £325 incl taxes. These are flight only fares.

Rates of exchange are USD $1.94 / CAD $2.28 / HKD $15.30 / EUR €1.49 / NZD $2.80 / AUD $2.48 to the pound.

http://www.solmelia.com/solNew/hoteles/jsp/C_Hotel_Description.jsp?codigoHotel=0737

we're staying here for a hen weekend in May :giggle: & its costing us £20 pppn half board, which I think is really cheap, All inc works out at £30 pppn. A friend goes every year & recommends it. Especially good for families.
A lot of the cheaper airlines travel to Majorca too. try http://www.skyscanner.net/ for flight price comparison
