I'm going need to buy a new T.V for the kids. I have currently a 40 or 42" Sony Bravia HD tv,now my ex is wanting to take it in the next week or so,I will need to replace it purely for the children as they have a Wii and maybe I will get time to play PS3 if I decide the route of keeping the consoles etc as it's not really fair to sell their Wii and this day in age who doesn't have a T.V - although I not too fussed myself.
Maybe need something of the same size as I have a entertainment unit that was bought only in March and maybe waste to get something that would not fit on that also, unless the tv was bigger and come with it's own stand/cabinet of course, but the unit I got matches my coffee table and a little round table I have.

Budget wise am willing to spend a fair bit as it's for my children, just want a decent brand, and some suggestions. I had a look at the Sony website and they do wireless tv's now? don't know what that is all about, I don't know what the latest model numbers are or whatever now.
I know about the John Lewis price matching retailers, they do 5 year warranty as some other places do aswell,so extra warranty be good.I use Quidco too.

The T.V here at moment is a Sony KDL-40W2000 so I need something equivalent,if not better, surely something now be better as that 1 must be nearly 3 year old.It was about £2K at time but I got John Lewis to price match it with a dealer and got it for £1600.

Well you dont need to spend anything near that if its only for you and the kids,£500 will get you a really good 40" TV
#9
If the kids watch the TV then its in their best interests for him to leave it for his kiddies enjoyment xx

I saw a M&S Deal of the Day a few days ago for something but couldn't buy then cos didn't want a new 1 in a box in the way so like anyone seen anything from a reputable website.

If it's for the kids, then they don't need a Sony. Maybe have a look round Comet or somewhere, just to have a look at the picture on other models, then shop around for the best deal on what you like. I'm sure there are a lot of tv's decent enough for the kids that don't have to cost in the region of £1600 :)

I ideally need to buy online and would like to get something that as close as what they used to,and to be fair I only ever really bought really decent brands so wouldn't know if some of the lesser known brands were any good.

Thanks but only available instore,I can't very easily get to a store. I am already going out of town for 3rd time this week on train so can't justify going to another town for a T.V.

This company have some good deals and price match, if you have one local pop in the staff are really nice and friendly and know what they are talking about! We got a Sony Bravia 37" 1080p (which my hubs asures me is good lol), i'm sure we paid around £500 a year ago. Don't spend too much as they are easy to smash as i found out when i was playing with the dog and one of her toys!

Good luck with the TV hunt and all the best to you with the arrivel of your new little one. :)

well, even if you dont want to keep hearing it, imo you dont need to spend near on 2k on a tv just for kids to play consoles on, as said, you can get a good one for around £500, and to be honest your kids will probably never notice any difference abd will be very happy with whatever you get...

even if you can afford it now, you are about to become a single parent,, which is very tough let me tell you, even more so for you with a new born, you might be sorted with what you need but believe me i doubt it will be long before you need something, so if i weere you i'd be careful with pennies and think about the future etc
#22
to be honest if he is that much of a c~@# let him have it, the less you have of his the better.

and go one better get a 50", lol
#23
It wasn't just a tiff then hun :( hope you're ok... good luck with the new baby... I don't know much about tv's so can't really offer any advice :)
#24

I agree with this.... they are kids for christ sake get a £500 tv then either save the rest for xmas or take you and your kids away for a break after the baby is born

Good luck with the baby.

We had a good one from play 18 months ago. I'm not upto date on whats fab & technical - but its been great for us all. It was cheap because there was a newer model coming out-might be worth a look?

Does it have to be 40/2"...I hyad a 40" sony bravia (1 year old) and moved it to another room and have bought this http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/457588/samsung-ps50b530s2wx-50-inch-plasma/?t=457588
IMO this cheaper tv is FAR better than the sony...they kids would love it...and it's bigger than your ex's! (who sounds like a bit of a tube if you don't mind me saying lol!)
