I need a laptop. :)

Can anyone help?

I'm wanting it to browse the internet mainly and use office applications - but i have office already. I am impatient, so i need it to be quick enough to cope with me flitting from one thing to another.

I do have The Sims 2, but i take it i'll need to spend a horrendous amount to be able to play it properly? If that's the case i'm not bothered, we're still keeping the desktop.

Any and all advice and pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I've never bought one before!

Thanks! :-D

Do you have a budget?
In reality, the best deals that MikeT posts each 2 weeks are going to be the best. However, these deals can be great 1 week, excellent in the next 2, and average 2 weeks later.

In reality, if you just want to use it for average stuff, even the cheapest Dell on offer right now would do. Though you need to make sure that you upgrade the 4 cell battery as it wont last long.

The £436 dell 6400 would definitely be good enough for you to not get stressed out with slow performance.

Then you have to weigh up screen size, weight etc. If it was me I would stick with the 6400 which has a 15.4 inch screen. Big enough to see fine, but not so big that it becomes immobile.

The graphics cards on these are integrated though, so dont expect to play new games.

Thanks!

I was looking at the Inspiron 1720 on the dell site, but i worried that it was costing me too much needlessly. It is more than we wanted to pay, but at the same time i dont want to scrimp and end up p***ed off at it if you know what i mean? I spend A LOT of time on the Internet. LOL!

Ideally i would only pay £600 tops including delivery. Do you reckon if i phoned dell they would knock me money off and stuff?

Ooo also, i've heard that i need a duo processor to not get annoyed with it being slow, because i like to hop between applications. Is this true or another pointless thing?

:-D
