I'll spend up to £300 or thereabouts I suppose. Viewsonic is one of my favourite brands, and I've spotted this one at savastore, the 22" Widescreen. It looks nice, but I can't see any reviews etc, and it's not been reviewed by PC Pro which is one of my faves.

I like the sound of the LG L204WTbut it's only 20", and I kinda wanted a bit bigger.

What do you all think? Any pointers? I know a bit about monitors, but not a lot, and advice is greatly appreciated.

How about Iiyama E2200WS? I know that in TFTs they are not number one (as they were in CRTs) butspec looks OK for the price.

That's the same as the Viewsonic I mentioned in my first post, the one I'm most interested in... :)

@ Kommunist - there's not much of a spec there and I can't see any reviews for that particular model. Thanks for posting though :)

Can you explain to me about the TN thing? I saw you mention it in another post... but I'm not sure of the differences?

sorry emma I didn't have my glasses on!!...if you choose this one then you'd be better off with savastore for the Quidco cashback...what about NI delivery charges are savastore favourable on that front?

Delivery is a tenner for NI so not too bad from savastore. I'm really swaying towards that one in particular....

I'm currently comparing prices at a few retailers to see if I can get it any cheaper. It's working out at £315.65 delivered from savastre, with the 3% quidco bonus :) But I've heard a few complaints about savastre, so I'm wondering should I spend a bit more to get it from a better company? I've always had excellent dealings with scan, but this is listed at about £330, never mind delivery...

EDIT - Viewsonics have a 3 yr warranty too...

doubt you will get it any cheaper... its insane just logged into our trade suppliers website, and they sell the model for 252.57, how they make any money places like savastore, i'll never know.

Er... I thought I provided link to iiyama website with all the specs?

As to TN, S-IPS, etc read this article. It is a bit old, but still gives a very good explanation on what LCD monitors are.

Sorry Kommunist, I missed that spec the first time round.

You've confused me now, the iiyama is a very nice monitor - and it seems to have a slightly better spec, when talking about the brightness and the contrast ratio.

However, I'm getting a bit confused in looking at the dimensions of the viewable screen, let me show you:

iiyama: 297.9 x 415.5 mm
viewsonic: 11.7" x 18.7"(so roughly 297mm x 475mm)

That seems to mean widthways, there is an extra 6cm width viewable - that's quite a bit!

I believe, iiyama spec is wrong. If you do simple math, you'll see it for yourself. Their displays sizes are for 20.1" monitor, not for 22". But that makes me worry about the rest of numbers in their spec.
I would give'em a call.

I think you're right about that 20.1" issue. Thanks for the advice.

I'm quite an impatient person, so I've just went ahead and bought the Viewsonic. I can't wait to get it!!
#12
Well please let us know if the Viewsonic lives up to its looks.

Just received it - it's absolutely gorgeous. Seeing HUKD in widescreen mode is a little strange though. The only issue I have with it so far is that the screen has no tilt option, but I did know that before I bought it. I can live with that! Will upload some piccys later.. :) Thanks for your help guys!
