I assume you're going to need a passport sometime so you may as well get one now?
Saves hassle of finding some other form of ID and paying for that and then getting a passport in a few months/a year when you need it for a holiday...

yeha I'd go for a passport too - your likely to need one in the next few years anyway - if not I think there is some sort of police ID that is accepted in most places - you only have to pay about a tenna I think (might have gone up though - I'm 30 now!)

worto.

edit - also can't you get a replacement passport cheaper than buying a new one?

nah. £72 for a replacment. expensive.

Personally i'd never take a passport out.. worth too much. Just grab yourself a driving licence.... cheaper and fit in your wallet.

I agree, taking a passport out with you isn't really that practical. I'd go for the driving license for size, although I've seen a couple of clubs accepting photocopies of passports. They must know that people don't want to take them round. I doubt that all clubs would accept a copy though.

any door supervisor that allows someone in with a photocopy is pretty much breaking the law. so dont use the photocopy, go for a citizen card or drivers licence, they're the cheaper and more recognised options.

How much does a CitizenCard cost (UK)?

The standard cost of a CitizenCard is £9. Urgent applications are £24.

Application forms for half price cards for over 18s are available from all branches of the following partner companies:

One Stop
JD Wetherspoon
Thresher
Ladbrokes
William Hill

So £4.50 - probably your best bet!

I get ID'd all the time and basically they wont really except anything apart from passport or driving licence. My friend tried to use her Navy ID to get in and they wouldnt except so you might as well pay for a passport or Driving Licence

Join the Army, and get a MOD90 for free, they also get you a passport for free for your trips overseas.

Edit: In fact the army will pay you to get these things. (Navy and RAF also offer same perks).
