Hi HUKD,

I do not know any where better than this forum to ask for such a quick response.

In a nutshell, I joined ID mobile in April 2016 opening a pay monthly rolling contract account IN STORE. I got home and noticed a much better deal online, I phoned their customer services who told me to order this ONLINE deal then cancel the IN STORE deal.

I cancelled said IN STORE deal within the two week cooling off period and was informed that I would not have to pay anything further. Fast forward to August 2016 and I get a threatening letter regarding a missed payment on my IN STORE account. After many emails and serious battling with their customer services they have finally conceded and offered me a full refund on the incorrect bill I paid for the IN STORE account.

This has however damaged my credit rating according to ZOPA, Noddle and clearscore - What are my options as this is not my fault, but ID mobiles? Can I get this incorrect record amended? Me and my GF will be looking at mortgages soon so I am terrified.

Thanks a million in advance for any help!

Credit scores are a bit of a joke tbh theres not alot u can do if it has affected it.

Ot shouldnt affect ur ability to get a mortgage although i borrowed 15k for a car paid it off in 6 months tried to borrow 4k for a second motor to sell on only to be told by the bank they literally wouldnt lend me a tenner (exact words) very confusing

i had a problem with them and my credit score they have ehown me as seriously in arrears for 2.80! for a mistake they made . called them up and they have corrected it on their systems. it should feed through to credit score companies soon enough. these companies have to provide updated information to be allowed to use the credit check facilities

Write a letter of complaint to the head office or directors office and voice your concern. They can contact the CRA they used to do the credit check and have it removed or amended. Also put in your letter how much stress and inconvenience the ordeal has caused you may get some compensation. If they don't give you an acceptable response ask them for a deadlock letter then you can take your complaint to OFCOM. I used to work in customer relations for a telecoms company and felt with these sort of issues a lot.

as ur dealing with I'd also contact experian and all ref agents and lodge a dispute this way on a hard search you dispute is visible.

There is no cooling off period for in store purchases.
when you buy in a shop, you don't have that protection

Credit checks are carried out for mortgages. They will also take other financial details into account as well, which will help.

Thats all well and good. except idmobile is only sold via carphonewarehouse and they offer a 14 day return / cancellation on instore purchases.

Perhaps get your facts right before peddling misinformation

Carphone warehouse (id mobile) screwed my credit score over £2.84 "final bill" they never even told me about.

The last email I had from them was the "sorry you're leaving" one with no mention of the £2.84.

They claim they sent me a final email after, they never. They claim they sent me a text message, they never, and despite being on the phone to them recently for over 45 minutes I got absolutely nowhere with them.

In the end I paid the £2.84 to at least get it marked as "satisfied" on my record.

My credit record now says my Carphone Warehouse account is "severely in arrears" and is marked as such by 5 "missed payments". This will take months to recover from.

All for a payment I had absolutely no bloody idea about!!!

Absolutely would NEVER ever touch Carphone Warehouse or any of their subsidiaries again.

Awful company.

This

When I purchased a tesco sim only deal in store, at the tesco mobile shop just recently, they specifically told me I had a two week period to change my mind and cancel.

You may be getting confused about the distance selling regs and I would agree that there is no legal cooling off period built into legislation for In Store purchases. But the stores themselves may have a cooling off policy, such as the OP had or my recent dealing with tesco

The facts are clear. There is no cooling off period for in store purchases. If stores offer their own cooling off period that is a different matter.

But the shop in this post did offer a cooling off period, and this is the post we are discussing so a purchase from some shop that the OP didn't go to.

yes, the facts are very clear, you were wrong in this instance.

whether other stores offer such a return is neither here nor there, as its nothing to do with the OP's issue.

Hi I am exactly the same boat as you I cancelled my contract with them and they added £2.50 charge to my account and didn't tell me about it that was 6 months agoI have since applied for a mortgage which has been declined as I have got a black mark in my credit rating which I knew nothing about. I have been trying to sort this mess out for 4 weeks now, I have made countless phone calls to them, been promised that the matter would be dealt with, but all lies from this hellhole of a company
