Gaming laptops are considerably more expensive than PC counterparts.

I was looking into one a few months back and it was £2,000 and a desktop for >£800 was just as good.
£800 doesn't get you that much gaming power in terms of a laptop. You'll get a maximum of medium settings on recent games.

Appreciate you feedback. What about Laptops like the HP omen. Would they not work?

Looking on the Hp site, the omen model which sells for £900 comes with a geforce 965m graphics card.

This is the problem with gaming laptops, the graphics card is always the weak point. Trying to make a mobile version of the desktop card which is powerful enough to game with yet have adequate cooling and not drain more power than the battery can provide.
A 965m will chug along on medium settings but won't age well. You'll be doubling your budget to get a 1070 card.

It does depend though, what games will you be wanting to run on it?

Its not for me its for a relative. He's only 13 but says he wants a gaming laptop. That is the only information I have. No idea what he plays but I wouldnt of thought too demanding games
