Hi I'm after either an iMac or Mac books for my 9 yr old twins - it will be used to connect their el gato to , and then for editing their videos and website . Also I've got them go pros will they be able to use these for face cam to add into their videos ?

I tried to make their set up using their old laptops and they were just lagging and it was very frustrating so I've promised I'd get it all sorted this year !
So basically I am wandering what sort of spec should I look for for the Mac and how much can I expect to pay for a 2nd hand one or does anyone have any for sale ? I don't really want to pay for a new one as there are other things I need to buy also !
Thanks in advance !

If you're looking for fast then Apple's PCs are just about the worst possible choice second hand. Well known luxury brands like Mac, Alienware and Toughbook hold their value better so you get older and slower machines for the same price.

Go and pick up a generic small form factor desktops or laptops with an 2000 or 3000 series i3/i5 for £80-150 each. The desktops will be faster and you won't have to worry about how good the battery is.

We have a desktop and laptops and I just can't seem to get it right - they all seem to be slow ! There's hardly anything on our Lenovo and its just coming up to 12 months old but since day one it's been slow ! I love the speed of Apple hence why I wanted to go for a Mac but I am willing to compromise - can you link me to anything that will be decent enough for what I have posted ?

Do you think a second hand late 2013 Mac 1tb 8gb 2.7ghz is a good buy at £500 ? Or am I wasting my time ?

You don't say what model it is, but if you can max out the ram to 16gb it should have plenty of zip in it
