Hi i am a uni student and the uni will pay for my monthly internet cost if i can provide them with a receipt with my full name and address and the price every month with the the internet providers details. do any of the internet providers sent invoices? who would be best to use i am not with bt for my phone i am with talk talk. i don't really want to pay any connection or set up fees and as short contract as possible.
thanks in advance for any help/advice. it doesn't really matter if it is dial up or broadband as i will be a very light user also doesn't matter how much it costs a month

You'll get a bill - I recommend Virgin Media cable if you can get it - lovely 20Mb :) Don't go for dial up! You'll hate yourself

thanks. i have phoned a couple of internet providers and they siad the bill will not have my address on it. i was with fast 4 but they don't have address on the bills. i will try virgin but i think it doesn't cover this area. thanks for your help

contract is to long with virgin i only have a few months of the course left

I know that AOL do a 1 month contract if you don't take the free wireless modem... just make sure you don't install their software!

zen are on a monthly contract and provide you with a bill if requested, and yes it has your address on it
#6
thanks everyone i will look into all the providers
#7
considering them all zen has a £40 one off conection fee

I can recommend UKFSN (UK Free Software Network).
They are an Entanet reseller and Entanet provide excellent customer service 24/7 as well as Invoices with your address!

http://www.top10-broadband.co.uk/packages/ - check out these and just look at the ones which have your required length of contract - most are 12months, but some are 1 or 3 month contracts

Always us price comparison sites to get these kind of data, like www.moneysupermarket.com or www.pricerunner.com . But dont blindly follow these sites. Get the data out of these and then do some rnd to find out the perfect one matching your exact requirement.

Hope this helps.

you won't find anyone not charging a connection fee unless you're tied into a long contract. i was with zen for 5 years before recently moving to sky and i can honestly say they are the best ISP in the country

Our tests indicate that your line is not suitable for ADSL Broadband

Yeah, that's the fee BT charge to set up your broadband, it doesn't apply if you're switching between providers. Some of the ISPs with long contracts do 'pay it for you' but you might have trouble finding any one month contract packages without it unless one of the ISPs is doing a promotion.

Try the tests of a few ISPs, some will give you different results or details as to the problem. It may be that your local exchange is too far away or too rural to have been upgraded to broadband, although if you're near a university that seems unlikely. It could be that you've got something on your line like BTs light user scheme that stops you getting broadband until you take it off, but some checkers should tell you.

try testing your number on samknows, it might tell you whats unsuitable, as in fibre or an incompatible service on the line

If your line is not ADSL capable then you will have to think about dial up connection...which is horrible...or Cable Modem, I think Vn Media provided CM connection of 20 MBPS....you can try that option as well.

Try IDNet http://www.idnet.net/, give them a call on Monday, their number is 08000 267237, they will send you invoices, I had to ask them to stop. Don't be suprised if the phone is answered within 5 seconds by someone that knows what they are talking about.
