Can someone tell me the best deal for me on an Iphone. Dont mind if its pay as you go but contract would have to be cheap and 12 months or less. Can be first gen. All i really want is the internet not bothered about mins and texts.

Thanks any help.

Contract deals are a min of 18 months with O2 now.

If you only want the internet why do you want an iPhone? - Lots of alternatives which are much cheaper and still have the functionality.

Depends on what your budget is really as if you go the PAYG route the current iPones are £349 / £399 new. Obviously you may pick an old one up cheaper second hand.

Apple said iphone payg was coming out this september but moved it to nearer Christmas. Contract wise you won't get it too cheap, as the person above said it's 18 (or sometimes 24 month) contracts and last time I checked no less than £35/month, although in 6 or 9 months you should be able to downgrade to a cheaper tariff. If you are looking for cheap iphone, go for a secondhand 2g (1st generation) one which can be unlocked to all providers with the right software which you may benefit from. Beware of ebay, some people have been known to sell them, then a few months (long enough for paypal not to get involved) claim on their insurance that it was stolen and the phone can be blocked and it's not easy or always possible to reinstate the phone.

The iphone has(is) been available since September and the date hasn't been moved at all. If you go onto the Carphone Warehouse website you can even get the white version if you so desire!

The cheapest tariff is £30 per month and you are only able to downgrade your tariff after 9 months!

Best deal for an iPhone? Get a used first generation 8GB iPhone from ebay (around £200) or the 8GB 3G pay as you go one for £350 and then take out the 02 simplicity deal for £20 a month, bargain

http://shop.o2.co.uk/tariffs/sim_only

If you dont get the 3G one (which comes with unlimited data anyway) Id recommend changing the bolt on to unlimited data however, most things that are cool on the iPhone cause it to log onto the internet automatically so if you dont have a data tariff itll cost you loads, even without the text bolt on the aoofer above includes 1000 texts which is enough for most people!

I've seen this bandied about a couple of times and as I'm about to stump up for a 16GB 3G I have to ask what I'm missing here :? The way I see it, pricing over 18 months for comparison:

CONTRACT:
Phone £59
9 Months @ £45
9 Months @ £35
(Cos this is cheaper than paying 159 up-front)
Giving a total of: 59 + 405 + 315 = £779

SIMPLICITY
Phone £399
18 Months £20
Giving a total of £759 ...

So 20 quid difference overall and for that you get 18 months free wi-fi hot spot access on contract.

Going with the 8GB gives £720 / £709 so only £11 for the free wi-fi.

Where's the advantage going with Simplicity? PLEASE Tell me I'm missing something as I'm looking to sign-up later today and don't want to be kicking myself! :-D

(Sorry and I forgot to mention, even using the PAYG sim with the free data for 12 months doesn't seem to help as buying bolt-ons to get anywhere near the amount of minutes & texts just goes waaaaayyy over the monthly contract alternatives)
