I applied for and got my Irish passport in about six weeks earlier this year. It takes time because although you deal with the London office everything has to be sent to Dublin. I was given a number that you could track progress with

Hello mate

Was that just passport or FBR as well? I've had an email from the embassy today and they say it's currently on a 6 month completion for FBR which is actually sooner than I thought.

Sorry but I'm N.Ireland so can get dual anyhow without the need of the FBR. Just one thing to remember though as it happened to friends of mine. During the "ash cloud" the Navy I think it was helped bring some stranded people home. They where refused because they traveled and entered the country on an Irish Passport rather than a British passport regardless of the fact they had both passports and flew out of Belfast International Airport.

That was for a passport but I had to sign the FBR declaration to get it.
I know times have increased since the brexit vote because of the sudden influx of applications.
Hope you get sorted soon mate

Cheers mate :) I was hoping to not have to apply for a new british one, but I'm going to the US in January so it looks that way unless they speed up which is unlikely! I know you can apply from the main post office in liverpool (For a premium, like check&send) and they will send it within 10 working days (a new passport)

When did you apply?

I applied early august and still nothing. My
Bank draft still hasn't been cashed either so I wouldn't expect anything any time soon!

Ah right fair enough I'm just wondering how long the postal order is valid for I think it's 6 months, but I noticed they've changed to online payment now

You're correct in the validity of PO. Same with bank drafts. I'll get in touch mid January if no update.

No worries, I sent my passport application off on Saturday and it's been received and is being processed so I will keep you up to date on that if you like?

For what it's worth my bank draft was not cashed until they sent my certificate back, and i received my cert + all my documents together. My cert was signed 14/11 and I received it 8/12 so they may send in batches.

I'm pretty sure the passport processing is a lot faster and yeah if you keep me up to date that would be good
#18
Just a question do you get the photos back that you send off?

No you do not.
You get all proof ie birth certificates and utility bills. Application and photos are not returned.
