Is it possible to buy a DVD recorder with surround sound

We are looking at getting a DVD recorder but would like to use our surround speakers with it, but cant seem to find one that has this facility. Home surroud system packages seem to come with just a DVD player and not recorder.

Does anyone know where I can get one?

You mean one with a surround amplifier built in, so you just wire the speakers straight into the DVD deck? I don't know of one. You might end up needing a DVD recorder with a DTS output going a to a separate amp that drives the speakers. But decent amps are not cheap. I have a Panasonic DVD recorder sending an optical signal to a Logitech Z5500 surround system (£200) and that works very well. If you went for a set-up like that you might be able to recover some costs by flogging your old speakers.
