I had Psoriasis on my scalp, tried loads of stuff to treat it and nothing worked. Then I tried 'Nizoral' - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001ETUD5I/, and it went away within a few weeks, definitely recommend it :D. Just makesure you keep up with it once a week to keep it from returning.

The body shop do a ginger shampoo which is meant to be really good for itchy scalps and dandruff.

What oil are you using? I would recommend something for the scalp rather then hair oil, maybe coconut oil, tea tree oil or a castor and olive oil mix. If you can massage the oil on the scalp and leave it on overnight and then wash if off in the morning.

Coconut oil is good for itchy scalps.

I frequently get Psoriasis in my hair, I tend to use t-gel shampoo, expensive and stinks but it really does soothe. I'll look into other suggestions though, if I can save a few pennies.

Wow was thinking of asking such question myself! But I'm having alot of hairfall as well with dandruff! Any suggestions...have heard that it's usually an indication of vitamin d and iron deficiency...how true is that?

Hi mate,

Try Neutrogena T/Gel Shampoo for Dry Hair, I got it from amazon and used it everyday for a week, and it made such a difference to my scalp. I had Psoriasis and a really dry, itchy, flaky scalp. This is the only stuff that worked. My doctor prescribed me some medicated shampoo but this is the only thing that worked for me. I now use it twice a week and have never looked back.

Home bargains, B&M stores usually always have it in stock. Medicated shampoo that's just the same as T-gel but at a fraction of the price.

Try the MooGoo shampoo/conditioner range. They don't use silicone which contributes the the effects on the scalp to make it dry and irritated.

I had severe dandruff for around 20 years. Doctors weren't interested. One weekend we had the grandchildren and noticed (cue more itching scalps...) They had nits, head lice , which we decided to treat. So I went to the chemist and bought some treatment for both of them and my wife and myself (the pharmacist explained that you have to do everyone in the household as we could catch them quite easily).
After treating everyone I noticed my dandruff has gone. A week later - nothing. 2 years later - still clear.
I wrote to the manufacturer of the treatment explaining that it had cured my dandruff and the replied ... " Having spoken to our development team, they say it it's because of the strong anti-fungal properties of one of the ingredients.... Many people have dandruff caused by fungal growth on the scalp.....we are pleased this worked for you...."... or words to that effect.

The stuff was Hedren 'Once'. I only used it once.

Since then I have been using a shampoo with Selenium in it, Loreal Evive anti dandruff (it has selenium listed on the back) this is supposed to be brilliant for dandruff. Head & shoulders do a selenium shampoo too. Good info here. http://www.headandshoulders.co.uk/en-gb/healthy-hair-and-scalp/non-category-dandruff/head-and-shoulders-anti-dandruff-shampoo-ingredients

And before someone says I may have had head lice for all that time, I know I didn't as I went to the doctors many times and saw a trichologist a few times too. I'm sure they would have picked up on it.

I have literally tried everything above (oils, shampoos, scalp treatments), I used to use Tgel (for a couple of years) and it was the only thing that worked for me - but you shouldn't using this for long periods, as it does contain harsh chemicals. So I completely stopped using it.

The only thing I now use is https://www.amazon.co.uk/Australian-Tea-Tree-Organic-Dandruff/dp/B001FFHN9U/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492069139&sr=8-1&keywords=tea+tree+australian+shampoo and more importantly the conditioner https://www.amazon.co.uk/Australian-Tea-Tree-Nourishing-Conditioner/dp/B002K5XGC2/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492069188&sr=8-1&keywords=tea+tree+australian+conditioner

It works really well, I still get occasional flare ups, but the conditioner seems to do the trick to calm the flakiness/itchiness

The shampoo and conditioner don't contain SLS etc, so are better for your skin/scalp. They also recommend using a separate towel for your hair, but I don't do this.

Nizoral get a vote from me too. Not cheap but you don't need a lot.

Sounds to me like your hair need a rest. Perhaps might be worth not washing it for a few weeks, first week is difficult be from then it produces it's own natural oils and is nice a shiny. Then choose a sud shampoo with natural content. I had terrible dandruff for years till I did that. Now I only wash my hair once a week and it's fine. Naturally our sales driven media brainwash people into thinking hair need all sorts of washing but it's not true.
