Have a look at the back of the receipt. It sometimes says what their return policy is otherwise unless its faulty there is no legal requirement for them to take it back unless you bought it online then you have 14 days cooling off period to return the item in its original unopened condition.

You need to check with the store to see if they accept change of mind returns.

Christmas Returns- Extended returns until 28th January 2017
Returns Policy

All items purchased between 24.10.2016 and 24.12.2016 inclusive can be returned for an exchange or refund between 29.12.2016 and 28.01.2017. *This does not affect your statutory rights.
Items must be returned unworn, in pristine condition with the original purchase receipt and in the
original packaging. All personalised items are excluded. Due to hygiene reasons, pierced items must be returned in their original sealed bag.
These terms do not affect your legal rights to return the goods under the Sale of Goods Act.

A lot of places will stop you from repurchasing straight away for this reason.

they will let you return for refund if you have receipt - is pristine and within the dates etc BUT they can be tricky about reselling to you at lower price. What they can say is that they only had eg two available at the lower price and they are now sold. That yours will go back to stock room to be sold at the higher original price - they try to wriggle out of these things you see.

As aprilg has also mentioned.
I wouldn't try do an immediate repurchase as they can then refuse to sell you the item at the lower price.
Get the refund first then go back later or get someone else to buy it.
I had this happen to me in argos. First of all they tried to refuse me a refund but I stated that would be contradicting their return policy , after arguing and getting in touch with head office whilst in the store they then gave me the refund but refused to resell me the item.

I'm hoping they will have one in stock in store
I can then buy it and later return it using the higher price reciept
thanks for the advice

Just make sure the S/N isn't on the receipt .

good spot. I can return the original item that corresponds with original reciept if it's in stock.
sounds like it maybe more challenging if it's not

You would have to say it was a gift then repurchase online.

Item came back in stock online. I went into the store to request a refund saying its £100 cheaper online.
They offered to price match and i ended up with £120 back on my credit card.
happy days.
