If using old router as a switch by connecting it to one of the new router ports remember to go into settings of the old router and disable DHCP....

Personally I'd just pick up a cheap gigabit switch

That'd take disabling of the IP server with in the slave router (amongst other things). Given the basic nature of the question by the OP, the setup might be asking too much.
