Hi,

My daughter (8) would like a karaoke for christmas. Anyone any idea what would be best? should I get a proper machine, a dvd player that has one built in or something else? We have a PS2, does anyone know what and how the Singstar games work? would they be suitable for her to sing along to in her room when no-one else wants to play? Dont want to spend an absolute fortune but want the best value for whatever I do spend! Thanks

singstar is amazin! you cant go wrong, great for single play and for parties.... few bevvys and you'll be singin all kinds of random carp, I think the wii is coming out with something similar if not already becuase I know theres a HSM3 sing along game coming out before xmas, depends on her age.

Singstar is definately recommended but stay away from it if you are drinking. The last time I used it the police came and confiscated the microphones

Singstar is the best thing ever. I'd go with that. You can still hear the song underneath and the music video is on the screen. It is loads of fun, and you get points for how well you do so, good for parties, and great for kids too.
The Ps2 version has loads of discs already out (20-30 songs per game) and you can pick them up pretty cheaply now. Good for you to borrow too when you have a few drinks!!

Disney singstar is on its way out soon (if not out already too). perfect is they like High School Musical and all that.

the only thing that puts me off singstar is you have to hit certain notes? sounds more competitive than fun to me, especially as I am such a bad singer!!
