i want to buy a handset as my mobile broke into pieces.but i am very confused. there are so many of them.i know it comes down to personal preference but would be great if my friends here on hotukdeals can help me choosing one. ones that i have shortlisted are htc one m8.amazon fire phone. samsung galaxy s5.nexus 5.lg g3.iphone 5s
htc one m8 doesnt take great pictures as compared to others.
amazon fire is not well established in apps and also has higher price.
samsung galaxy s5 is very expensive
nexus 5 has battery issues
lg g3 is cheaper that what it can do but i am not sure
finally iphone5s has the smallest screen and need less to say expensive
not a nokia blackberry sony follower so not considering them
help please

I'm currently going though the same process of trying to go through them and hopefully whittle down the choice with the possibility of buying one outright as I always prefer to do.
So far I'm inclined towards the g3 on the combination of performance and price.
The m8 is great but just stupidly overpriced.
The nexus5 is a nice phone..good spec but a poor camera and unable to take a memory card..16gb or even 32gb really isn't that great when you know that's the final limit.
Nexus6? Should come with its own shoulder strap..
I do quite fancy an xperia z..more likely the 2 than the 3..but that's based on the roughly £300 limit I've decided I'm going to try to abide by..
My only other thought is to just wait it out until the revision of the second generation moto g arrives but with the 4g/LTE..march/april I've been lead to believe..

My dad has the htc m8,and although as you say the camera is not as good as the other top phones, it is still a very decent camera. Additionally it makes up for it in terms of build quality and all round it is a very good phone for the price.

I have a samsung galaxy S5 & it's brilliant the screen is a good size and the camera is excellent it takes very clear pictures.
#5
Is tgere any reason why you wont consider the z3?

I know how you feel, trusted reviews 2014 round up is worth a read, oneplus one sounds interesting also worth looking at moto g (a lot of phone with a low price tag)

rudeboy i dont want to wait for a new phone longer.i can wait until january but need it quick as i cant survive without my phone.

madridpadithereferee.i still believe its one of the near perfect phones on the market.only drawback is the camera. they could have packed it with a decent camer and it would have been perfect.4mp is not worth it.i was shown a photo taken within the store and it had pixels all over

brighteyes1984.samsung galaxy s5 looks great .in comparison to the lg g3 there is not much differnce but in price it is £150 cheaper.

smellyonoin.i dont like sony apple and nokia

i forgot to say but i use the gps.we browsing and the camera a lot

I would really recommend the HTC one m8. Great in hand feel, best user interface, best screen (arguably). Ignore the negative reviews about the camera- in my experience having owned all the flagship devices, I honestly think it's the best all rounder. The depth sensor works great and the low light performance blows all the competition out the water. The only time the relatively low resolution will be a problem, will be if you zoom in a lot in your photos, or if you edit photos on a 4k monitor. Otherwise, the m8 is by far and away the best phone for you.

How many minutes/texts/data do you use?

Just further to my previous comment, HTC guarantee that they will give every single android/sense update for 2 years. You'll be lucky to get a single android update for a samsung/LG!

Isn't it true the oneplusone is unable to receive the 800 band frequency 4g wise ? Making it totally useless on nearly all the main UK networks..unless there are different versions of the handset..
#15
I'm right now thinking of signing up for a ee sim only for 15 quid per month..bagging the fifty quid amazon voucher..buying a g3 from amazon for 300..make that 250 with the voucher..no chance you can match as far as I can see if you and it all up over two years

the focus is a great feature.you can always photoshop later but good feature to have on the phone.

Not sure how you take a link out of the amazon android app..but just search LG g3..its the top item ..and I would only buy direct from amazon..then you should be able to use your fifty quid..
I always add the phone cost and 24 months line cost and average it out..
And by my reckoning this is a belter

unfortunately dont want ee.they have no network at home.zero or one bar only
#23
its still a winner to buy the phone for £300...

even a typical £30 a month contract over two years would be £720

the only thing holding me a back is that i have a great tesco sim only deal for £10 a month that i really don't want to give up because it doesn't even rise with inflation..i'm just waiting to see if how quickly they bring their 4g in..it's 1gb data and it would only be an extra £2 for 2gb...making the g3 with 2gb data only £588 over two years without any discounts or vouchers

i am on now on o2 sim only paying £9 per month and not only its cheaper but better than ee too.i am in the favor of buying the phone outright too
#25
i am still none wiser with what phone to get. definitely made up my mind to buy the phone than go on higher contract
#26
brilliant ...i reckon your onto an outright winner there then.

the overall price for what you'll be getting is fantastic.

i got the sim only deal 4 years ago and never changed it. £9 for 500 minutes.unlimited texts.500mb.but the sim is not 4g.that is the only drawback.
#28
mine is tesco ...500 mins..i've never used over 300 yet in about 4 years as well...5000 texts ..and 1gb internet fixed with no inflation rises as yet at £10 for a rolling 30 days but the real beauty is 4g when it arrives here is promised as free from additional charges.

When I do go for the new phone which I must admit is badly needed like yours, I probably will pay the extra £2 for the extra gb of data.
I am very reluctant to give that sim up unless the start of 4g on tesco drags on beyond march or april.

how did you get the 4g sim?maybe because you are paying £1 extra per month for the past 4 years :p
is it a feature on the sim that i can request a new sim?
#30
It's been £10 since I took it out and I guess tesco will just issue a new card when i need one for 4g as it's been promised free to all their customers since day one. If you need a micro or nano sim tesco just issue one free or charge or so they have until the last I heard.
That's why some most of the other networks got the hump with them a while back ..they saw as their their chance to fleece people for 4g was being given away and devalued by tesco and another network I can't recall...so they have pretty much had to all continue as normal without hiking prices for it.
#31
Type your answer here...I have to say though that I couldn't survive on just 500mb per month..I'd end up paying extra every month so I have to look very kindly on that so-called "extra pound"!!

If you've discounted the nexus 5, the LG is the next best to go for. Removable battery and sd slot as I understand.
#35
Funnily enough I was doing a fair bit of research on the nexus 5 last night ..including tech review sites..and they all marked it down because the storage cannot be expanded with a card and a supposedly weak battery performance ..
I really would like the new model moto g but unfortunately its a non starter to buy a non 4g phone in this day and age ..

I believe you can get a refurbished LG G3 (usually perfect as new condition) on o2 refresh for £160 which seems to me to be amazing.
