Dell Vostro 1000 for £295, I cant see if it has a webcam, but I'm sure the options will allow one to be added at a smal extra cost

how about an Advent 4211 a clone of the forth-coing MSI Wind

£278 and add in another 1Gb brings you under budget

Cheers guys - the Acer one is looking the best so far (although no integrated web cam).

They are good for the price, but just check how long the guarantee is as they are refurbs.

If you are looking to buy new then Comet are selling an Acer for £269.99 - spec is a little low but for an extra £20 you could double up the RAM to get your 2gb and it would be quite respectable for basic computing at a low price (no webcam though).

Had a quick browse and according to the HP website yes, but just to fully make sure check it by the product code variant - there are HP 9605 ea / ef / em / eo / tx models. I think they will all be wi-fi but you can double check here by searching for the model number...

Hi Chris,

Thanx for an interesting thread!

as coincedentally i am looking for an hp pavilion laptop with the same budget £300 as am a Student, whose dell inspiron 6000 is on the blink, the screen has gone, well i think its the backlight, as when i close the lid and open it, it shows the desktop for about 1 or 2 seconds and then goes black again but i can still see the desktop in the back but very dark!

I understand it can be easily fixed but cant be bothered and have used it as an excuse to get a new lappy http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/215702/laptop/../../../forums/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif and i will then sell the dell to help pay for the new HP.

Anyway have you recieved you HP DV9605ea laptop yet?

...and if so any gripes?

Did it come with the remote and did you have to pay extra for that?

Does it have bluetooth and how the heat on the base?, does it heat up like some dell laptops do?

Also any decent pix of your HP dv9605ea will be most helpful!

Cheers m8...appreciated! :-D
