Hi Everybody
First of all, I just want to say that this is my first post, although I read this forum and get in the website pretty often. And to all of those who frequently write here, my most sincere thanks and I hope you realise all the good you are doing for society: helping people in a forum in such an altruistic manner really is an incredible thing to do.

So, here is my problem. I want to buy a laptop. Not a netbook, I am looking for something for about 400 pounds, at least 15' screen. Mainly i will want it to surf on the internet and watch movies. The only game i occasionally play is Football Mananger. I have looked at Dell outlet but still dont get the difference between Dell Inspiron and Dell Precision. Also, i was looking at ACER, but at the moment i have an old Acer Travelmate 25xx, which has given me quite a few problems: Every now and then i had to open it to clear the dust from the heat exchanger next to the fan. So, i would love to have a laptop that doesnt overheat. So, concluding:
about £400
Screen > 15inch
Weight = not much of a problem
Colour = dont care, even pink will do :)
Min req = i dont know, enough to watch movies and play Football Manager (I guess it will be more of RAM issue rather than graphics)

Thank you!

why wait for a dell? what about other laptops? plus i dont like the fact that ebuyer appears to have quite a few fake reviews...

Well the positives with dells are the special offers are often quite good, As for ebuyer yes it does look aq bit odd with fake reviews but have never let me down with qaulity etc and there have a lot of mid range qaulity laptops

In that case you'd probably be best posting a short list of the ones you're interested in and then people might be able to advise on the "best" one:thumbsup:

I'm no expert on laptops/computors just the point i have is that i have had a Dell laptop for 4-5 yrs now and you can still get advice if you have a problem even though the warranty expired a few years ago plus with Dell you get all your software so if your machine ever crashes you have all the stuff to re-load (not sure if you get all the software with a machine say from PC world etc).

all i will say is if u buy a laptop u want it with windows vista that includes a free upgrade to WINDOWS 7 in october,
vista is awefull, but windows 7 is the bomb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
u want at least
2.2ghz cpu
dual layer writer
hdmi out is nice feature to have
3 gig of ram(2 gig is low now)
at least 120gig HD
15" screen is small u know,i would go with a 16" widescreen, great for movies and web browsing over dual pages
