check out the refurbs from Argos on eBay. Got one last year and no problems at all and it's like new. I was once told a lot of refurbished tech is merely opened boxes but at worst it's been set up, returned and wiped.

i have had a refurb from Argos too. mine was classifed as a b grade . got 6 months warranty but as always tech seems to fail after warranty ended. it developed a fan fault (9 months since purchase). it might have just been me who got unlucky. I would say try your best to get a grade A/A+ or one that has none to little scratches and do not buy the squaretrade warranty ! I paid another £65 on top of the laptop price for 2 years warranty . had the laptop come back (last week)and the fan is working great but they replaced the wifi adapter (had it checked by someone else other than me )so its back out to them to fix as it does not work . The squaretrade warranty at least to me seemed very appealing .the company they send it in Liverpool however has had mixed reviews and a few shocking ones but then again I do not seem to have luck with hp laptops (my old one died due to overheating lol). personally I'd get the 8GB RAM (1st link you posted ).I sometimes feel 4GB is not enough . Especially if you have a memory leak from a browser(mainly Firefox/chrome/Internet Explorer (previously experienced with all)) plus it gives you some flexibility if you want to play some games as well and/or video editing/rendering. don't quote me on the last bit as I do not use my laptop for gaming and/or for video editing :D . hope it helps someway .

Hi, this is a very good laptop, 256ssd, ddr4, 7th current gen i3, and brand new with warranty, recommended this laptop to a customer and they love it.

slightly out of your budget, however worth it, considering new battery which should last hours.

hope this helps

idrishussainw7 very good price, another 4gb ram will cost you £12.00 fom cex, ebay etc.. and ssd will cost £80 or there abouts, however from argos is ddr4 memory, really depends on what you want to use it for? but current laptops including this one has very good cooling therefore should last a long time, ssd is the way to go though, please get advice from others members though as my choice is only a option so please consider your budget and what you really need it for as both are very good.

kind regards mark

Mainly need it for word processing maybe watching things like Netflix. No gaming. (Have a decent desktop pc)
Battery life isn't that major as I'll mainly be using it near to sockets. I like the £440 Argos one but is it overkill for my use? If needs be I can just use web browsing / word processing and bin of any form of streaming.
