Hi, we are looking for a laptop atm. We need it for using the internet, eg facebook, ebay msn etc and also to use it for spredsheets and MS Word etc. I have not bought a laptop before so do not really know what I should be looking for. Obviously we don't want it to be really slow and can only really afford to spend about £300. Are there any suitbale deals around at the moment. I found this Toshiba one at Staples, is this a good offer? http://www.staples.co.uk/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?Description=UK_CL_technology-bundles&CatIds=,91677&webid=397697&affixedcode=WW

Thanks

yeah thats a good deal, toshiba laptops are very good - you may want to add 1Gb of ram extra to make it 2Gb as vista is very memory hungry. you can get that done at pc world i think, it wont cost you very much

Cons
you need another 1 or 2-GB extra RAM to run vista smoothly...
secondly i think Athlon is a desktop processor hence the extra heat and noise .... but no prob if you dont mind

pros: DVD RW?, large hard disk, integrated webcam, brand name

donno bout the bluetooth and card reader which are always nice extra little things to have :)

If you want both computers to be able to connect to the internet at the same time you will need a router.

If you've currently got a (hardback book sized) box connected to your computer and the phone line then a wireless router would just replace that, your computer's internet would continue to work as normal and the laptop would connect wirelessly.
