I am wanting a laptop for my daughters birthday.

I want one that she can surf the internet on and play games (probably sims)

I have no idea what to look for, Don't really want to spend over £300.

Anything about for that budget that is decent?

Thank you so much x

sims is quite a demanding game, so may need one with good graphics

Thanks, but sorry that doesn't mean anything to me http://moktoipas.com/smileys/11.gif I am totally useless with computers but don't want to buy something that won't be any good for her

Try Dell Outlet, got a good spec for £300, might have been returned but has been looked at and still get a years warrently.......same as you get anywhere else.

ask for one with dedicated graphics card, NOT shared such as the mobile Intel series.

less than £300, tho. maybe reconditioned

Have a look at the deals from ALDI starting Thurs 4th March.....Netbook for £260....she should be well pleased with that

Why does it have to be a laptop ? A PC is much easier to find with your required spec and within your budget.
#8
It has to be a laptop as there is not enough room in her bedroom for a desktop

Would this one be any good http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/594290/samsung-laptop-3-year-warranty-3-yr

Thank you

have you thought about getting a refurbished one, i got my son one from bargain crazy and it was like new, hes 13 and plays sims on it. Try PC world for refurbs and bargain crazy, although the latter doesnt always have laptops.
#19
its not just the colour but its really small details that i dont think would really matter
#20
Thank you, think I will go for the black one then if there is no difference

If using the Internet, do not forget to see if QUIDCO or TOPCASHBACK or CASHBACKINGS give a decent cashback discount as well.

Also bear in mind that laptops have more chance of giving repetitive strain injury on the arms, wrists and fingers if used for long periods, since usually people do just that, use them on their lap, and that is not a good configuration for long peroids on a computer. You also might get neck strain if habitually craining forward to see the (smaller) screen .

In boys (not a concern here apparently) the heat from the battery pack can warm the blood going to the groin, and reduce sperm count in males. I am not joking.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article400872.ece for example, use Google to read more.

Just mentioning that in case others reading this are not aware of the possible problem.
