Laptop for Grandparents

My Grandparents are after a laptop to get them started. They've used XP in the past, and this would probably be the best option if possible?
I'm basically looking for anyone selling off any old stock or something similar?
The Sainsburys deal would have been perfect!

I think it is a bad idea to get them XP.

Apart from the fact it is a old operating ststem (it came out in 2001), and out of support by Microsoft, it is also far more prone to security attacks than Vista or Windows 7.

Microsoft have certainly tightened up security on Windows in the last few years and giving your grandparents XP is just leaving them wide open.

Microsoft are also begining to "let go" of XP (they have already said that Internet Explorer 9 will not run on XP). While this may not be a direct problem to your grandparents it is the begining of a trend for less and less support for XP from Microsoft.

I would say go for Windows 7.

Looks like microsoft have got to guilbert, yes xp is prone to more attacks but i doubt that the Grandparents are going to be downloading much or do anything that can get virus's .As for using internet explorer 9 either use internet explorer 8 or firefox which is 10 times better than internet explorer anyway.Get an XP machine then at least they will know what they are doing.
