Laptop just for playing DVDs

My dad wants something for playing dvds on, he travels a lot.
I told him about the portable dvd players but he says the screen is too small for him to watch them on.
any ideas people?

He wouldn't need the laptop to do anything else but basic stuff as he doesnt know much about how to work a computer, even after a lot of trying!

things then that are important would be
1. battery life
2. screen quality
3. ease of use

of course price is important too! it is a deals website after all :)

get one of the bigger screened DVD players. cos will work from 12v and have better battery life than a laptop.
you can get 12 inch ones.
thanks for your advice :)
most laptops will only do 2 hours playing a DVD. those littel dvd's will do double that, plus can b charged in a car, most laptops cant.

the screen are suprisingly clear, even the smaller ones.
plus less likely to go wrong than a lappy.
Well I've just ordered the Vostro laptop - from another thread on here - to do exactly this. 15.4" truelife widescreen + a 9cell battery. All for £327.

If you really need power in a car then there are power supplies available with mains adaptors on them. You can always rip DVDs to the hard drive for longer viewing times as well - no DVD drive to spin
