Hello All,

Can i ask you all to put your thinking caps on? My Niece has just started secondary school and is looking to invest in a new laptop (well parents looking to buy)

They are thinking of spending £350..... £400 max......

Can you guys suggest any good ones for that price.....

Will she be looking to actually take it into school with her in a bag, or will it be purely for use at home. The reason why I ask is that you can get a very good netbook-style laptop (i.e. Asus 901) for that kind of money and it will be very portable and should do everything you need at secondary school level.

Alternatively, do you have any other requirements? i.e. is she a girly girl and would she like something in pink etc.? If you can give me more info then I can make a few recommendations.

Cheers,

Sometimes Dell have certain deals on with money off or free delivery.

Just your luck if one of these are running. I have 'bought' 3 Dell laptops for people in my work and they all seem happy with their purchases.

How about one of these:

You'd probably want to stick in an extra 1GB RAM but that shouldn't cost too much extra from Crucial.

Well from what i gather she will be using it mainly to do school work go on the internet.... possibly (i'm still trying to get an answer off my sister) to play games like the sims.... but i don't think that is essential.

I honestly don't think she minds what it looks like.... more after the performance for the money
