Hi Guys,
Been looking for a laptop for under £400

* (2GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2MB Cache)
* Genuine Windows Vista(R) Home Premium
* 3GB Memory
* 250GB Hard Drive
* 15.6" Widescreen Screen
* DVD/RW
* Wireless Enabled
* 3 No. of USB Connections

OR
HP G60-118EM For the same price £399 - 10%
* Intel Pentium Processor T3200

of those two, the Dell has the better spec processor, otherwise theres not alot of difference by the looks of things.

I've got a Studio 17 (the 1535's bigger brother) and they're a nice bit of kit.

edit to add: all the Studio laptops seem to suffer from pants speakers, they're fine for the usual dings and pings of windows but if you want decent audio output for films you'd be wise to get some portable speakers or connect it to a hi-fi. I bought a bluetooth audio link thing for £20 and listen to music and stuff on my hi-fi via that (no point spending £100's on a hi-fi then using laptop speakers, eh?) :)

im not too bothered about sound as i have a PC and a £1600 stereo system.
This is mainly for me to use for business (i build websites) and its easier to take a laptop to a meeting than email everything to the person im meeting.
Will be a graphics design/webdesign/programming backup machine for when im out and about :)
I dont need high end graphics as it wont be video/games editing or playing.
Thanks for the input :)
Anyone found anything with similar spec or the price??

well if the 1737 I have is anything to go by, it runs CS4 suite amazingly well - 4 second startup for Photoshop (splash screen to 'ready') and about 11 seconds for Dreamweaver.

If you can I'd pay a little extra for the higher rez screen, desktop space being a valuable commodity in most Adobe products.

Only other relevant thing I can think of is that the screen took a bit of faffing on to get the colours right, but I've not had a laptop yet where its been 'right' out of the box colour-calibration wise.

The Dells a nice bit of kit .Second in command at work has just bought one and brought into work last Monday , I had to install some software ,Office,Anti-virus etc.Nice speedy laptop and the screen/graphics quality is excellent .First time I'd seen the Premium version upclose , I do like the way you can have your open programs on the screen,like in 3d.
