Bit of a struggle with Dell to meed your spec and price. This is about the best I can see.

Another 512 meg ram from crucial is around £30

Buy via Quidco for cashback should just squeeze it in under £400

thanks mike t.
have looked at this one and managed to get them down to £400.00 with 1024mb.
do you think its a good deal?should i go for it?

So this deal was on the phone? if so remember you will lose 4.5% quidco and the extra £10 on offer until 23/2.so it may be worth going through quidco and buying the ram as suggested by Mike.

It may also be worth considering asking for a single stick of 1gb ram giving you the opportunity to upgrade to 2gb at some futue date?

thanks currychops , i think quidco is best deal.

Buy the Dell 1501 at £353 with the Sempron 3500, memory is more important than processor speed on a laptop like this, won't be a gaming 3d monster, the £30 512meg upgrade keeps you nicely inside £400.

thanks mjr600, something to think about. might be worth waiting until thursday to see if any new deals come out.
