>and have word.

No laptop is going to have Word included (unless it is a 60 trial of Office 2007). Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office are both very expensive.

You can download and install OpenOffice for free and that includes a Word Processor.

There have been LOADS of requests for laptops on here in the last few weeks. Set the topic above to "Computers" and then scroll through and you will find loads of them, or search in the top right for "Laptop".

Here is one from a few days ago

i asked the same a few days ago as my friend is looking for one for around £150-180 basic but will play dvds too..any advice?
she wanted pink but they will buy a skin..

no budget as such but the cheaper the better, shes changed her mind, it doesnt have to be pink, any colour is fine.......
#14
also our advent refurbs both came with word etc all on. Worked straight out of the box wireless. Bought from Dixons.

Can I seriously suggest you don't get a pink one. You'll pay more for the fact that it's that colour.

She'll probably like the novelty factor for a few days, then when that fades off and she has a go on someone else's faster laptop she'll wish she had one of those.

Also, pink laptop + cheap budget = NO! My girlfriend's sister was seduced by a laptop being pink and pretty cheap, the motherboard packed in last month which will cost £150 to fix. It was only a few months old.

Oh, and like someone else said, save yourself a significant amount of money and install OpenOffice, which despite being free is every bit as good as Word, and fully compatible with Word so she can do work on there and take it school/college/uni or whatever.

dont understand then why ours have had them installed on all 3??????

I have no idea. Are you sure they weren't just trials?

I've never heard of anything coming with anything other than an Office trial or the vastly inferior Microsoft Works.

If there's a deal with Word in then go for it, as long as it doesn't effect the price in any way. With OpenOffice being free though there's no need to pay for Word to do homework on.
