Laptop with 2GB Ram - For £500

Hi, im looking for a new laptop for university next week. I have a budget of £500ish and would like the following requirements:

Processor Type: Intel Core 2 Duo
Hard Drive: At least 100GB
RAM: 2GB or more
Condition: New
Operating System: Vista

I know these requirements are going to make finding a deal pretty hard, and I am just about to make it harder  Preferably, I was looking at getting either a Dell, HP, Compaq, Samsung or Sony.

I have been alerted about laptops like Acer so I have been told to stay away :giggle: Thanks for those who can help me out! Will add rep if you can make a good suggestion! Cheers

That one's close. Got £100 to play with to upgrade the RAM, that won't be £100 for 1GB (although it depends whether the RAM included is 2x512MB or 1x1024MB).

And it's dual core, but probably not Core2Duo.

120GB hard drive and Vista though.

well it was £398, and i wasnt too happy with it, nice laptop, but i really wanted graphics card so i asked to return it. about 12 times lol, but the kept offering me £39 refund it to keep it. eventually i got tired asking and took the refund. figured id sell it and get another laptop. so actually i guess it was £359 lol.

You can easily manage this for under £500 on the dell website if you lower some of the requirements but i've managed to build a vostro 1400: Core 2 Duo T7100, 2gig ram, 160GB sata drive for £527.58 inc vat + delivery.

Simply choose small business when ordering, vostro 1400, choose the system on the right of the page (comes with free delivery) and customise away. As always remove the 3yr waranty.

To the doubter from the acer camp, perhaps you should change your brand :)

I bought this last week, charged £15 for delivery but turned up next day, first acer but so far so good, would have gone for the Dell Inspiron for £411 but delivery time was weeks and peoples delivery dates kept getting put back.

do you not have to prove to dell you are a business when you select "small business" or anything? Would be great if they don't check!

no you dont. the inspiron i picked was on the small business side of the site but i phones and got it as a home user with vista home premium instead of business.
