Whats peoples views on hitting the big store half an hour before closing tomorrow to pick up a turkey?
last few years been loads for around 80% off but this year there doesnt seem as many on the shelf
bit worried it might backfire and we end up birdless

Buy 20 today, take them back 30 minutes before closing for a refund. Wait until they put a 10p sticker on them and repurchase your favourite.

the consensus on here is that it would be ok for a corporate supermarket but bad form if it was a local independent butcher

I'd gamble.

ah yeah i get the whole corporate entity thing , id just feel bad having to deal with the nice girls at customer service , its my local.
Suppose i could go to a different store :)

So far im all for gambling content to pick up a chicken if it all fails

any tesco staff know if they bought in less after last year?

im half suspecting they are only putting a few turkeys out at a time to give the impression they are running out and people have to buy NOW

We go to my parents' house for Christmas dinner, but usually buy a turkey crown around this time so we have some to cook into "leftovers", both Sainsbury's and Morrison's had sold out when I went turkey hunting last night. As you say, usually there are some left. Might try Lidl after work...

Thats interesting , im suspicious that they haven't as many turkeys as previous years so maybe no reductions :(
My massive tescos only has a shelf end for turkeys and it has looked a bit sparse every visit the past week.
decisions decisions

Looks like you may be sharing one of the turkeys attributes then;

You are stuffed.(_;)

Risking it for a biscuit? :p Maybe you could pick one up and then have a look before closing and if you do get one for a bargain price, freeze the original one you purchased. Just don't be birdless! I hope you and your family have a merry Xmas :)

Am I allowed to sell 19 turkeys on here?

If you really wanted a turkey for your dinner why would you wait and chance it until christmas eve before you buy it? Bit of a foolish thing? Are you really such a cheapskate that you will wait until the reduced stickers go up??? Bit daft isn't it?

I personally don't cook turkey for my family. We are looking forward to a nice quorn roast that I purchased in November.

Merry Christmas to you all...... :p
