Try the qualcast hand lawn mower at argos or amazon, reduced to £24.99, i bought one and would never go back to using an electric mower, keep your grass short and just go over every couple of days in the summer to keep lawn looking good, its a great first lawn mower, cant praise it enough. also buy box of feed and weed from any diy shop and use occassionly on lawn to keep weeds down.

i would say it depends howbig your garden is and how level it is and in how many sections (if more then one)?
The feed and weed is good Wilkinsons do a cheap homebrand one which is quite good.
Whichever lawnmower you get you will have to cut it at least once every couple of weeks to make it look nice, they are hard work :( but good when you see it after :)

Good idea to read customer reviews on argos site. :)

There's always that new sit-and-ride mower made in Wales:

Ask your family & friends if you can borrow one, you will then see what it is like, I've got to agree with the above comment about the Qualcast hand mower, very good but hard work, the lawn not being level can make it even harder. for a easy to use solution go for a Cheap Flymo.
Don't forget if it's a small garden only get a small mower.

disagree with last comment it is definitely not hard work, its perfect for any size garden, at that price try it and see, once a year have blades sharpened to keep it in top condition. amazon even deliver it free. good luck. :):

Who are you to disagree with my comment?
It takes 90 minutes to cut my grass with a motorised mower, it is a very large area and uneven in places, to cut it with a Qualcast push mower would take at least 5 hours and that would be hard work!
If your garden is the size of a window box and level like a bowling green then yes it would be easy!
