Hey
Pre-ordered about 3 PS3s so will more than likely end up getting one on launch day. Now i need a HD TV to go with it...

I got a pretty good idea about what i want so here goes.

Has to be a LCD, i'm not a big fan of plasmas.
40inch and above (The bigger the better)
Name brand (Preferably Sony, but Panasonic or Toshiba will be okay too).
1080p resolution
Have at least 2 HDMIs
Have at least 2 Scarts
Preferably with a PC connection.

And now the deal breaker.

Must be in the close proximity of £1000

Anyone who comes close will get their name in my sig for a month

Let the challenge begin
And thanks in advance all help appreciated

Thanks traveller appreciate all the help but that tv is only 1080i not 1080p plus its a no name brand i could get similar specs for about the same price for a Philips or Hitachi in Comet.

Back to searching then.

I think i was way too optimistic with my specs and price point...

Likes a challenge:-D

Does this fit the bill sharp 42" tv a bit dearer at £1098,but the same one can be got from here click a bit cheaper £1066.99,just not in stock at present.

Have has a quick look at the specs and I think it has all the scarts, hdmi's etc that you want.:)

Edit: tribal also have 2.75 quidco(the 1066.99 price one) to help a bit more

muckypup you got from here i take it http://www.lcd-tv-prices.co.uk/index.php?product=LC42XD1E&gclid=CO2uqJKFu4oCFSayEAodhxZRQg and if you could get plenty of dixons codes then there not bad price.

Now the Sharp is definitely got all the requested features. Anyone got any experience with this model?

I want to get it from Dixon just for the reliabilty issue, but the FEB50TV code doesn't seem to be working any1 else tried this and got results, if i get £50 off plus the 2.5 quidco it'd need major competition to be beaten.

Thanks to both muckypup and paulsss. Repped.

Definitely on the short list this one

Anything else along these lines?

I would suggest viewing a 42 inch plasma beside a 42 inch LCD watching a fast moving HD feed and see which one is better. Saying that you can't get a 1080P plasma for anywhere close to £1000.

If you haven't already read up on the pros/ cons of LCD/Plasmas on AVforums.

Thanks muckypup i read the review seems promising. And thanks spudgun i'll check AVforums now.

1080p is not supported on that LCD but it will play 1080p. Read the bit from the guy who bought it.

No worries about not wanting an unbranded lcd, just thought I'd chip in with my 2p! :-D
