I'm getting use to me new ZUK Z2 and would like to upgrade to a custom with android 7.

Has anyone done and can they point me towards a tutorial as I'm finding it difficult to follow. I have flashed an UMI phone and this seemed a lot easier.

Thanks
Mike

Hi eli78.
If you do decide to flash please let me know how you get on.

Thanks

I tried to flash mine following the tutorial linked above, but kept getting a Sahara fail error in Qfil. I then followed another tutorial for flashing with the Miflash tool, which was successful, however the OTA update to android 7 kept failing, which is apparently due to using the Miflash tool. I then tried flashing with Qfil again which worked this time, and I'm now happily up to date with Android 7 and Zui 2.5.104.

Hello doolitt1e thanks for the info. Now I know somebody has tried it successfully I will give a go. Any chance you could point me towards the tutorila for flashing with the Miflash tutorial.

Don't worry about trying it, if the flash fails your device remains working, it won't be wiped. The link for the miflash tutorial is http://www.gizbeat.com/11283/hs-usb-qdloader-9008-how-to-unbrick-and-flash-your-zuk-z2-and-any-qualcomm-phone-with-miflash/ however I would advise using the qfil tool in the tutorial in response #1 above, as the system update didn't work after I'd flashed using miflash, apparently it just doesn't quite do the job properly.

Hello doolitt1e
Thanks for support and link. Unfortunately the second link in tutorial is broken and doesn't show the ROM. Which ROM did you use?

Many thanks
Mike

This is the rom I had success with, it's the stock Indian -

It's a compressed file, you'll need an application called 7-Zip to extract it.

Hello doolitt1e.
Again many thanks for you help and support.

I think I successfully have flashed the ROM, using Miflash, but it remains on Android 6.1. Is there a ROM upgrade to Android 7 that you know of?

Hiya, no problem :)

I would try flashing again using this rom, but with the Qfil tool this time, as outlined in the tutorial in response 1. If the flash is successful, you'll be able to OTA update to Android 7 as I did. I couldn't give you any advice on an Android 7 rom as I didn't need one, though I think there is one on the zukfans.eu website.

Hello doolitt1e.
At last success with my upgrade. I took your advice and reflashed using the Qfil tool. Still didn't make any difference, stuck at Android 6.1 and no updates. Trawling through forums I stumbled across a message indicating that I needed a VPN to connect to China. After installing a VPN using a Chinese location I was able able to download and install two updates bringing me up to Android 7.

Once again many thanks for your support and patience.
Mike
