good afternoon.
I own a lg 4k tv (ue850v I think) and I used to be able to stream from my phone or tablet using the screen share feature ( not mirroring, I think it's slightly different) and control what I was watching using the magic remote.....
now i cant, I have recently had to do a reset following netflix not working and now the above problem has presented itself. Netflix works fine and the software is up to date...

Thanks for any help offered...

Could just be a broken firmware update, smart device manufacturers tend to mess stuff up every so often so I would check AV forums and see if others are experiencing the same problem.

Pretty sure Android Beam is just linking devices via NFC. Screen sharing is either Widi, Miracast, Chromecast or DNLA.

I think wifi direct is more like an advanced adhoc link but I could be wrong.

Seeing both the magic remote and Wifi/Bluetooth use the same connection I would check the menus to see if something hasn't been switched off. Also try registering your magic remote with the TV again.

Chromecast built in?

I have in the device connection a screen sharing option:
screen share. (miracast)
content share (wi fi direct)
tv control.

I used to be able to send YouTube videos from my phone straight to screen but now I can't.

Have you done something daft like switch on Wifi-direct ?
You need internet to use youtube on a TV. If wifi direct is on then you can kiss that goodbye.

my TV is connected to the net via a lan cable. I don't think wi fi direct is on.. I will check though. I used to be able to view pics or videos on tablet and phone and send straight to tablet by simply pressing a little "box within a box" icon on phone and tablet... 8ts no linger there?

That sounds more like smart share which is more DNLA.

Might jog your memory a bit.
