I bought one in the sales, 2013 model 32 inch and after about 3 or 4 hours it switches to standby, is this normal? i have no timer set.

I'm a cheap skate so thought i would ask here before ringing a 0844 number lol.

Have you definitely been into settings, time, and checked that off time, on time, sleep timer, and automatic standby are all set to "off" ?

You can cheat and use the live chat option ;)

As to the setting, I'm sure there's a menu on mine for how long it stays on before turning off automatically. There is an off function. Mines a 2012 model.

My LG does the same, it only happens when I switch on but don't change the channel which is pretty rare (in the 3-4 hr period), same as with sky box, i just flick through a channel to register I'm here sort of thing, its a power saving setting me thinks, that's my reasoning and quite willing to be proven wrong and blow out of the water...!!

online chat is offline so will try tomorrow, thanks everyone, i use my tv as a sleep aid lol and need it to be on all the time, when it goes to standby i wake up.

It is a good feature i suppose but i want the option to disable it, if it does exist.

If it's like mine, it goes into power saving mode, you usually get a 5minute warning, usually signalling a mad dive to press a remote button to cancel it!

Yeah, mine does the same, Annoying sometimes but when I fall to sleep it's not lol.

If you use the green eco power settings on the remote to turn the screen itself off but the sound still on it overides the auto shut down on my one.

I don't think it is just LG either but most if not all new tv's.....I recently bought a Sharp that does this and rang them up to ask how to change it and they say you cannot do so and quoted something about it being an EU thing (not sure if that was BS or truth)

If you go into settings and go into time there is an option for automatic standby, just change it go off and your tv will no longer shut down.
