London to Gatwick

We're flying to Turkey from Gatwick.

I looked at Trainline website from either Kings Cross Thameslink or 1st Capital Connect, or Southern from Victoria costs about £35 for two. Is there a better deal, I was told it'd be from £8.60 onwards ... but can't find it.

Alternatively anyone has a good voucher code for Gatwick Express? It's £88 for return at the mo :( if it costs less than trains even better!

Thanks in advance.

Would that be in the morning/weekday? Do you have any railcard?

National Express coaches go from Victoria, £12.40 per person. There might be codes for that. Thameslink is my choice though.

A bit cheaper at £48 at Easyjet (no need to fly Easyjet)

That's express class return. Your £88 is first class isn't it?

hi quaver,

thanks for your help.

we'll be travelling from east london/zone 2, weekdays mon/tues, no railcards. flight is 9pm so no rush but planning to travel before rush hour 5pm. return is a bummer though, 4 am lol. apparently normal, turkish airlines - weren't sure about the other plane charters.

was considering between london bridge, victoria, kings cross thameslink.

you're right re: first class, i thought it was strangely expensive! return express on gatwick is £53.60. wow the easyjet link is better than the gatwick express. £48 for both!

thanks again, quaver - rep added.

happy to report: safe and sound, back in rainy london! :santa:

for info to anyone else travelling to gatwick ... the trains from kings cross thameslink to gatwick cost me £10 one way pp, and £8.60 on way back (possibly because of time of travel, but no clear indication how they price these things). noted that there were plenty of counters that sell the train tix back to london so no fuss about worrying about losing your return tickets.

Go from Kensington Olympia, its a secret route no-one really knows about.

Alot cheaper too.

Best route to get to Gatwick.

EDIT: Just saw your return post, hopefully you can use the advice I gave, easily the best route :)
