i'm after a Single London Euston to Manchester Picadilly on March 25th.
the £1 fare is (currently) available only until 20th March- I've been checking everyday for the last 2 weeks for any update on this.

now I have already tried the trainline, the cheapest one way ticket being £54.00. there was one £11 ticket available but is not commutable time for me( reaching Man at 00.25 am, bit scary as I'm travelling alone)

any help really appreciated in finding a better deal. Not sure if I should to wait for the Virgin Trains to annunce the next lot of the £1 deals

i'm hoping to travel between London and Manchester between 3 pm and 8 pm

They dont usually release the next lot of mobitix tickets untill quite late. If you havent got the nerve to wait for themthere is always Megabus although it takes ages compared to the train.

iirc, they dont release cheap tickets until 21 day before, so if I were you I would check beginning of March

EDIT, sorry if Im wrong but London Euston - Manc Pic comes back at £8 single, leaving 11:20am, 12:00 Noon, or £11 leaving at 12:25pm? Thats using Nat Express Trains. the later in the day, the more it costs, but there is one for £15.00, leaving London at 14:00 or 14:40.

I'd go for the £8 or £11 deals as quoted above. The £1 mobile tickets availability for the preceding week is now all £7 and £9 so playing the percentages game would indicate getting a standard booking in while the going's good.

Having said that, booking for mobile tickets is open until the 20th March so I guess it will be only a few days before the 25th comes up.

I guess what I'm saying is that if this was me I'd book it now for peace of mind and so what about £7 potential difference.

If you don't mind travelling by National Express (it does take over double the time of the train) you might be able to get £15 cheque back from signing up to Shoppers Discounts and Rewards. They're doing a promotion where you send them your booking ref from National Express and they send you a cheque for £15:)

Use the site www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com as that gives you the best low fare finder out there. The actual trains are operated by Virgin, they have their own website but it's useless in comparison unless you want the mobile tickets which are on a separate part of the site and are pretty simple.

thanks a lot guys,

just gonna wait until the end of the week before making up my mind and booking the tickets.

I would prefer the train compared to bus as I will have some luggage (around 25-30 kgs) and the non stop direct train sounds really good. I will check daily and book the best available. thanks again
will come and update, but please feel free to post anything you find in the mean time
