looking for a dell computer

Hi. Iv been asigned a mission to find the best deal for a PC by my auntie,so im in need of a good quality computer, preferably by dell. she will spend about £350-£400,iv just seen the dell computer on the deal page

Dell Dimension Slim Desktop system AMD core duo 19" TFT, 1gig, 320Gb, dvdrw £399 or less delivered

Whats this like,i also read on the comments that if you upgrade to the processor 4200+,then it works out at £402.49,is this right?

someone quoted this:

"You need to drop down the support. That takes £90 or something off it"

so what would be the final price if you took of the waranty,or was already taken of it?

This looks like a very good deal,is it worth me waiting for a better one?

Does anyone have any personal opinions on this computer

James

i just bought this (or very similar) from DELL - NEVER AGAIN!!!

first, the system arrived and the tower didnt power on at all, plus the Monitor had blurry lines on it - then i waited 7 days for a replacment, in the meantime my original pc was fixed and so i wanted to cancel - went back and forth with them, took 4 attempts to get them to pick up the non working items and get a refund - no wim just waiting for the refund.

will never use them, nor reccommend them - and they need to get a UK Call Centre sorted. the one they have now im sure is based in India - and they are no use. You cant understand them, they cant understand you - takes forever to get someone to stay on the line with you without passing you over - must have spent £20 on calls which ill never get back.

but to each their own.

Yes this indian call centre is a pain, but some of the deals as posted are just unbeatable. The kit is good too. I've had about 25 PCs off them in the last 2 years and only two have had problems and they were all sorted out - even if the indian call cente is a pile of poo.

One bad experience shouldn't make you write them off - unless you think having a tantrum is clever of course!

Yes I would agree the Indian call centre is difficult to understand, however my son's laptop is 2 years old and out of warrenty but they helped him get together the parts needed to fix problem. They called him back later that day at the time they said and spent over an hour on the phone until it was fixed and it is now running better than ever. The only charge was the 0870 call to them in the morning explaining what was wrong.

currychops if i bought them 2 then that would work out dearer than my aunties budget of £400,when i could get the dell with monitor aswell for £400,would you say the dell was better i.e quality, specs etc

Is there any dell discounts on HUKD.

the only Dell discount is to go through quidco for 4.5% cashback...the Dell 19 inch standard monitor are not the best ..so why not consider the DELL base unit in the HOT DEALS and buy the Acer monitor which will be far better than a Dell standard model.
